Re: TAXI TV last night
Are you sure that was a blanket statement ? Or was it for a particular listing ?BradleyHagen wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2024 3:56 pmI still cannot believe that the Library Guy said...in 2024....that he flat out refuses anything with samples....Drums, Keys, ANYTHING.
I can't see it being viable otherwise, to record each and every part live ? That's nuts and considering these libraries rarely pay anything on the front end it's not workable.

I am really hoping that I took this out of context, but a couple of other folks have PM'ed me and pretty much heard it the same way

I didn't see the episode but I know who was on it. I would assume they were referring to samples/loops from things like Splice and Arcade used on their own with no manipulation, or to cues/songs that use nothing but loops from sample collections. If you're performing the parts with a vi you're fine.

Re: TAXI TV last night
He said that he received a track from a composer that he had worked with before, and liked...... But the composer fessed up to him that it was not all live instrumentation, so he could not accept it. There was no mention if the brief was asking for "Vintage Material recorded before ****" Like we see on some TAXI briefs. I specifically asked this question during the episode : "QUESTION: I believe that music samples and drum samples are completely different animals in this conversation. Does this gentleman refuse tracks with nothing except for live drums?"eeoo wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2024 7:45 amI didn't see the episode but I know who was on it. They sort of danced around it, and the Library guy and Michael arrived at something like "Well, if you HAVE to, just make sure they sound real" or something to that effect/
Apparently the brief said "NO samples or VI's whatsoever," but unless it was for vintage material, why would it say that in the first place?
Maybe I am making a mountain out of a mole hill here, I don't know......

I have to believe there's some kind of misunderstanding, you could always call Taxi to clarify. Or hopefully someone from Taxi will chime in on this thread.

Re: TAXI TV last night
I thought they explained this at some length - there was a listing that specifically stated 'no samples/virtual instruments' or similar. All the ballyhoo was about the composer NOT READING THE BRIEF and then getting sorted out.
Later, some discussion about drums was undertaken. I think there was a bit of misunderstanding about that. Maybe Taxi can clarify what exactly was the final verdict? I assume it's the same old 'please be sure ... high-quality' statement we get in every listing.
Hope this helps.
