Re: TAXI UNSUCCESSFUL STORIES
Hi Windowman:Too bad the forward didn't work out but I just wanted to say that for me, a forward to the same company resulted in a signed deal.we all feel like we've been crapped on at times -- I feel like I've been crapped on for 20 years but each day I wake up, wipe the crap off of my boots and try again. Stay positive, it's the only way to go.doug s.ps your tunes are great.

Re: TAXI UNSUCCESSFUL STORIES
Quote:Hi WindowmanIt does sound like a mess of confusion so I think you should call taxi again Monday morning and explain just what you said here. There are some possible explanations, although they would not be any less frustrating as far as emotional ups and downs. It could be that one person at the company was interested and then when you uploaded to their site it was reviewed by someone else who then rejected it... CaseyWindowman - I'm bummed something like this happened to you. Arrrrg... I'm with Casey on this one. My guess is somebody else inside the company listened to the uploaded track(s) and had a different opinion than the first person. Hang in there. It's an anomaly, not a normal TAXI thing at all. Given enough time within even the best organizations, stuff falls between the cracks.Who knows, maybe this can work to your advantage in the long run - you've come to this company's attention in a strange way, but maybe getting their attention could bring a future client your way. Handle it like the pro you are - treat them with respect anyway and boom - you've got a second "in" to this company. Definitely sorry to hear what happened, though. cb

Re: TAXI UNSUCCESSFUL STORIES
hey windowman, your feelings are 100% justified, but i agree with the consensus that there isn't much you or TAXI can do about this one.But just to show you the other side to this, I had submitted some music to Cxxxxxl myself once and it was rejected. Later, through a TAXI forward that same song was then excepted by that company. (Needs and minds change all the time in this business) Just remember, if your music wasn't any good, there wouldn't have been any interest at all!Keep up the good work and keep pluggin' away.

Re: TAXI UNSUCCESSFUL STORIES
Thanks for responding everyone.........As for being attached to my music like they are my children, that really wasn't the issue here. I've been in the business long enough to have grown a thick skin about that part. I know some of my songs will eventually be adopted, while others should be burned at the stake & buried in a dark forest somewhere. (I don't recommend the latter with REAL children.)I wasn't pointing the blame at TAXI with my title, Hummingbird, I was only being facetious. You know, good headlines get attention and it's also good practice for working on the craft of songwriting. (Or at least the craft of pissing industry people off.) I believe that mistakes were made & there's nothing I can do about it. This happens all of the time in any business. Unfortunately with the music biz, in my experience, it's the artists who are the lucky recipients of these errors. (Think of all the great songwriters, bands & musicians that we may have never heard because of these mistakes.)At this point, I don't think I'll call TAXI. I can't see anything productive coming from that. I've been submitting to libraries more & TAXI less. As of now, I only have one song up for review here. It's a country listing too, so I'm only anticipating the big (R). I've searched the net for libraries but I'm not getting a lot of results; If anyone knows where I could find a substantial list of music libraries, I would greatly appreciate that. If you're uncomfortable posting here, PM me.(Chrisbee- I went to your website & there's something strange going on with your site's musical intro. It sounds warbled. Just giving you the heads up if you haven't noticed it. )Anyway, back to working on a few future (R)'s....... Futility awaits!Wade

Re: TAXI UNSUCCESSFUL STORIES
Wade....Sometimes when you're new around here....you miss info, because the others posting have some assumed knowledge (no ones fault of course)..I've said before...it took me a year to even know what a music library was... this may be marketing on Taxi's part, but I was pretty surprised when I realized this.....didn't help that my forwards were to a library with the most possible generic name....so it didn't click...with that said....it is not blatantly said....when you get a forward....it only means that the company will listen to it....and nothing more...good luck...it's all good....great tunes...Vickywe're all here in the school of hard knocks....it's just a test of commitment....

(..)Wadehi wade,I'm sorry, but your comments make no sense to me:* you're saying that you have a thick skin and intend that you have a professional view concerning your music ("not my children..").if that was the case, why didn't you just move on...? instead, you're angry that your song was rejected in the final decision - yes, that sucks, but having a thick skin means: just move on. if the track's great, it'll find a home.* you don't call taxi (who has nothing to do with the emails from the company that you've got, as several members already mentioned) because you think there's nothing productive in it.my question: how productive is it to spend your time thinking about a rejection, posting about it and blaming a company (the library)?btw: sure, try to get songs placed by directly approaching libraries - it's always good to use all opportunities we have. just keep in mind that that what you've posted has nothing to do with taxi at all.if you don't like a company who contacted you, well, just move on and let them go their way - where's the problem?cheers, martin

Well, there's no denying you are top-notch guitarist. That's fabulous playing man. Drums are a little less exciting. Great arrangements, totally interesting, 'cept the drums.I always wonder if the library cats are reading these forums. because, if I was willing to use Taxi, as a vehicle to discover new sources of original music, this forum would likely give me great information with regards to the personality, of the new provider...and windowman, you have a lot in common with more people than you realize.you still need to catch another 500 fish. bait and re-casteQuote:You get back what you put in.Internet messageboards are a great way to vent though.
