Yeah, that part jumped out at me in the Sweetwater interview. He comes at each mix with a blank slate so he doesn't try to make the song into something it's not. For a brief interview, this one had some gems in it.

Yes Mojo that is curious. He says that mixing is all about the "song", and then says he doesn't care to know the song title, though I am sure he hears the title when he is mixing. I think he probably meant that he doesn't want to have any preconceived ideas about a song or how it should be mixed until he hears it. Of course he's there to sell his signature wave products that are so good they can actually replace him??
No? Then why would I buy them?lol!

I hear his Wave plugs are way easy to use; might speed up the mix process, some. He does seem to like to work fast. (me, too when it comes to mixing)

Yes, Mojo, I was just being a smart ass, I think sometimes the less choices you have sometimes works better than being overwhelmed by too many.

Yeah, CLA has a pretty short list of go-to hardware processors, and the approach makes a lot of sense; considering that some folks I know have VST plugin collections well into the hundreds, I wouldn't think they could be terribly familiar with all of 'em.

I wonder if he uses his own plugins. I would bet he doesn't. Or that he might sometimes.
And I know he is tied to Waves, but if he thinks Waves recreates hardware well, the he has not used Softube stuff. Softube will blow your mind!!!
Good video!
