Template / spreadsheet for organizing all the pitches
Hey friends!
I'm new here and have just startet submitting songs.
I'm realising already now that it will be important to have a system / spreadsheet for registering all the songs and all info so that I can keep track of everything.
For example;
What was the submission for, was the song forwarded, if not, what was the feedback, has the song been placed, deal information, rights information etc etc.
Does anyone want to share how they keep track of everything? Or even share a spreadsheet template or similar with me?
Looking forward to getting to know this community!
Greetings from Norway!

THIS. Composer Catalog was not around when I first started, and now I greatly wish I had starting using it long ago. It's a great habit to develop!

I made my own Google sheet from Day 1 - It's been invaluable, and I exapanded it over time to include a tab for each publisher , a tab for placements, one for earnings from Royalties etcpeterespevoll wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 1:19 pmDoes anyone want to share how they keep track of everything? Re: Template / spreadsheet for organizing all the pitches
Nice spreadsheet, Mark. But... Purple?
I use a spreadsheet as well. Had I started with composer catalog ("CC") early on, I probably would have gone that route as it is a great program. But once I had over 100 songs with a zillion combos of 2-3 writers per song, etc. I was too lazy to move over to another platform. I keep track of all the co-writers, their contact info, writer PRO, publisher PRO, etc. That's in addition to genres, moods, a la's, description, and all the common fields needed for libraries. I have a field for exclusive vs non-exclusive, and check-offs for specific libraries.
I don't track Taxi listings, forward/return, etc. since I can get that off the Taxi site and I don't submit that much anymore (still do here and there). If I was submitting a lot, I probably would. I'm not sure if CC has fields to track Taxi submission info, it might as Keith tended to think of everything. But it would be easy to use a spreadsheet for Taxi info and CC for everything else.
I'm a spreadsheet junkie and fairly experienced with Excel. So with a spreadsheet, I can sort, filter, manipulate in all sorts of custom ways. Works well for a control freak like me.
Start keeping track of things early on in this game. The longer you wait, the more of a mess it becomes to get caught up.

Are you colour blind ! ???? ...It's clearly Magenta.

The Magenta ones are Non-Exclusive..Yellow is Exclusive. I rarely have anything but yellow now.
Like you though I like to use it to extrapolate data, via filters etc.
