ORCHESTRAL-Based TENSION INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a very successful Music Licensing Company that lands placements on hundreds of shows on Major Networks every year!

This Company is on the hunt for Instrumental Cues in the general stylistic ballpark of the following references:

Survivor (from 2:40 to 3:05)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chy84PQiajE&t=160s

"Reality Show Music Tension" by Bobby Cole
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2K1l2zQoyTI

Survivor (from 6:20 to 6:56)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GukEM4NnqSE&t=380s

Please send top-notch Tension Instrumental Cues with high-quality Orchestral-based instrumentation. Some sound design or hybrid elements are okay to include in your pieces, but don't overdo it! Craft your Cues around a singular motif, and layer instrumentation in and out as they progress to create a sense of forward momentum and dynamics. Please be sure that your production and any virtual instruments you use are polished and modern. If your pieces would work well in the context of nail-biting, suspenseful scenes in competition reality TV shows, send them in!

NOTE: The placements generated from this Company will likely have good royalty payouts on the backend since they would be on Major Network Shows! Sounds great to us!

Your submissions should be about 90 seconds to 2 minutes long, give or take. Non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings will work best. Do NOT copy the referenced material in any way, shape, or form. Use it only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

This Company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, so the material you submit for this request CANNOT be signed with other publishers or catalogs. Sync fees will be split 50/50. The Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher’s share, and you’ll keep 100% of the Writer’s share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. Please submit as many Instrumentals as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PDT) on Wednesday, August 18th, 2021. TAXI # S210818BG

Just some random comments for the well known 2c:

- basic bass and low winds texture sound is pretty good
- something is seriously wrong with the panning, it is as if two different pieces are playing in each ear
- I'd say it is too experimental/dissonant/weird for this purpose, it is more something for a psych trip in a haunted mansion after downing some acid
- the violins "shut down" completely here and there (like 0:29), it sounds unnatural
- the "jumps" in the violin sound (like for example at 0:07, 0:11 and elsewhere) don't sound too good, as if you plotted a bunch of MIDI notes very short after eachother rather than actually sliding the string

It sounds very muffled and dark, cannot really hear definitions in the notes. Also, it feels like diverse snippets from different pieces were pieced up together without common ground...

Thank you, Jur. New link in first post attempting to deal with the problems you noted.

Thank you, BBC Orchestra! (Though we also need to think about Marco's comment, that it's too dark and muffled. This may also be reflected in your comment about the "psych trip" etc ...)

have tried to deal with this ...
violas - center
string basses - center
tuba - 50% R
trombones - 50% L

We were automating a pitch shift that only worked in semitones. Replaced it with one that works in cents.

Thanks again!

Need to be careful with "re-panning" an orchestral library that was recorded in situ, and even if the Maida Vale Studios is not as wet as Air Studios, the library still has quite a bit of the room in it, even when you are using close mics only.
Using a pitch shifter 100% results in unnatural and artificial sounds on strings, best using a legato patch and a low velocity when connecting notes to achieve a natural portamento.
Make sure to ride your CC1 and CC11 on long notes, too

I agree with everything Marco said.

I just have a suggestion. Before you submit to an orchestral listing just record some tracks or track and play around with the sound of the strings, if you do have a modulation wheel practice playing a line, watch youtube videos "GUY Michaelmore " on how to EQ BBC orchestra strings, panning, reverb amount...e.t.c....I have the same free BBC orchestra and sat here for hours and days playing around with it.

That's all for now...good luck
