Testing Frontiers Alphatrack Surface control

Post by wizz » Fri Jan 25, 2008 2:25 am

I´ve been looking for a control surface to suit my needs for a long time, and as I walked into a music store yesterday, I saw AlphaTrack from Frontier.http://www.frontierdesign.com/Products/ ... ackBrought it home and testing it atm, and it seems this handy little thing stays on my desk forever. It has ONE 10mm motorized fader but thats actually all I need. It takes very little space on my desk too.I´m running it with Logic. So far recommended.Anyone else using it?

I have one and I use SONAR.I like it a lot, but it took much concentration to get me to stop reaching for my mouse.Hard habit to break...It has many handy functions that help streamline ones work flow.

Do you see using the Alpha Track with the left hand and the mouse with the right, or mostly as a mousing replacement?

Left on Alpha, right on/near mouse.Sometimes I just use the alpha; really depends on what saves most time.

I have the AlphaTrack and wireless mouse both on the right...For one...I have more room to the right in my studio setup, and being a "righty" it just don't feel "right" being on the left...ha ha...Its not a total mouse replacement, more an add on with better control for certain features

Quote:They just finished their Logic driver for Alpha Track.Still Beta but it works fine...There's something really funny about the driver for the Alpha Track being in Beta

I wasn't nitpicking , what you said was perfectly fine...I just thought the alpha/beta thing was inherently funny...maybe just my weird sense of humor.

Maybe I have no sense of humor today because I have flu and my ears/mind close up after about eight hours of tracking. So please accept an apology matto buddy.
