THE 4TH FLOOR

Post by ronnie35 » Sun Jun 07, 2015 1:43 pm

HAS ANYONE STARTED THE MUZAK SONG? IMPLE, QUIRKY, and slightly CHEESY, MUZAK-STYLE (Elevator Music) INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a highly successful Music Library with an impressive list of Film and TV placements. They're looking for Original Down-to-Mid-Tempo Instrumentals that you'd hear in the background at a department store, or in a slow, stuffy elevator. Give them Instrumentals that have a kitschy sound that's just cheesy enough to work for a variety of quirky scenes and scenarios. MIDI sounds are okay for this pitch, but not so much that it feels too stiff or overly robotic. Please avoid submitting Instrumentals that are so frenetic or musically ambitious that they could detract from a scene's dialog. Your submissions should be at least one-minute in length, with easy edit points and non-faded endings. Broadcast quality is needed (Great sounding home recordings are fine). Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). They offer an EXCLUSIVE deal. You'll split all upfront sync fees 50/50. They'll get 100% of the Publisher's share, and you'll keep 100% of the Writer's share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright. Since this is an EXCLUSIVE deal, please be sure the material you submit to this pitch is NOT already signed with any other Libraries or Catalogs. Please submit one to three Instrumentals online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than Friday, June 12, 2015. Hey Ronnie

I am working on a couple for this. One is already done - a track I already had called '3rd Floor Lingerie' (taxi page). The other is still in process.

I would say a single string line probably isn't enough for this pitch. Think about what you might hear way in the background, coming through crapo metal speakers installed in the ceiling, in an elevator, or in an old fashioned department store or some stuffy public place. I know that true muzak is sort of a thing of the past, but I guess use your imagination if you don't remember what it was like!

I'm with Jon, maybe let that e piano take the melody somewhere in the middle, then bring the strings back in the end. I could see this working for sure.

I liked it the way it was, and I remember (unfortunately) a lot of elevator music. Ott
