Animal VS Buddy Rich:) Buddy Rich played so intense that he got several heart attacks, but he was a drummer for sure!! Enjoy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_BmeBfV-O4

Orest:Love this video. I spent a couple of hours watching old Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa videos on YouTube the other day. There were some great Johnny Carson moments for both. They just don't make 'em like that anymore...

HaHaHa! That's great! I noticed that Buddy played the first part with matched hands, and the second part with jazz grip. Guess he could do anything! Here's another drum battle from some bizarre movie that a drummer friend sent me:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqA292l9KngErn

That was funny. Buddy Rich in a good mood. A rare moment. Buddy Rich was a heavy smoker (at least he was when I saw him in the early 70s) and a really intense guy. He probably would have died earlier if it wasn't for the drumming!! LOLHe started out as a tap dancer, BTW.He was a really tough band leader and demanded perfection. Google "Buddy Rich, the bus tapes" Don't play it at work in your cubicle unless you have headphones on.MazzPS: This is the Buddy Rich band I saw. I was just a little kid but it completely blew my mind and totally lit me up:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rm-A6bGhiEMost big bands at the time didn't use electric bass but he did.

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

My former drummer has a signed pair of Buddy's sticks. His parents took him to see Buddy when he was just a wee drummer.
