The Genius of Country Singer-Songwriter John Rich
Hey, Andy here.I wanted to pay tribute to the modern mastermind of John Rich. I have been following him for quite some time. And when he joined forces with Big Kenny I predicted big things. Whether you are a fan of Big & Rich, you can't deny that he is a brilliant songwriter. Here is his resume outside of his 3 solo albums."Hicktown" "Why" "Amarillo Sky" "Johnny Cash" Jason Aldean "Pickin' Wildflowers" Keith Anderson "Corn Fed" Shannon Brown "I Play Chicken with the Train" Cowboy Troy "If You Don't Wanna Love Me" Cowboy Troy with Sarah Buxton "Comin' Back for You" Keith Harling "Once a Woman Gets a Hold of Your Heart" Heartland "Mississippi Girl" "Sunshine and Summertime" Faith Hill "Like We Never Loved At All" Faith Hill with Tim McGraw "Come Cryin' to Me" "Say When" Lonestar "If Her Lovin' Don't Kill Me"A Aaron Tippin "Redneck Woman" "Here for the Party" "When I Think About Cheatin'" "All Jacked Up" "California Girls" "You Don't Have to Go Home" Gretchen Wilson "Come to Bed" Gretchen Wilson with John Rich "Attitude" Wynonna Judd "What If It All Goes Right" Melissa Lawson

Hmmm, I dislike nearly all of it, but "When I Think About Cheatin'" is one of the greatest country songs of all time, IMO. Goes to show even a really great writer is "timeless" great about one percent of the time.

I think he is certainly up there with those boys Matt, and there is a lot more to come I'm sure. Mojo I agree, a lot of that stuff I don't care for either, however, I am really amazed at his success after Lonestar fired him in the 90s. I am a big fan of Jason Aldean and went on to find out that Rich wrote/co-write all of his hits. I think he's carving out his is own little niche in country music. His own little sub-genre. A country-rock sound for sure.Yes "Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy" will be standard and "Redneck Woman" will be around for a long time. So many women connect with that song. Whether you like them or not, the average listener loves them.Andy
