The Ghostrider

Post by jademusic » Sun Apr 05, 2009 5:25 pm

Hey Taxi friends,Were new here and will introduce and engage with others tomorrow but wanted some feedback on a song we produced and wrote. We know what friends and family say but we want to hear what you have to say too...http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default ... 427213Here are the lyrics...I've brought men down and caused many a tear/ I've been a gunslinger throughout my career/ I was born in 1843/ And though I'm a ghost, life goes on for me Chorus: I'm the ghostrider, yea, I'm the ghostrider/ No one's faster on the draw than me/Don't tempt fate or in the ground you'll be/ Im the ghostrider An outlaw at heart I've killed many a man/ Ive robbed banks and trains just because I can/ But the thrill I love is to draw a man down/ And watch the undertaker put his body in the ground Chorus Repeat I still ride in the quiet of the night/ On my horse searchin' for the next gunfight/ Wyatt Erp, Jesse and Holiday too/ If I catch you in town, I will prove to you Chorus Repeat I'm the ghostrider 3x's

Hey - welcome. What's your goal with the song? Sounds a lot like Johnny Cash vocally. I enjoyed the listen but since I don't know what your market is, I can't really comment on commercial viability. Sounds like classic country, which is extremely competitive. If you're planning to pitch for film/tv, you'd have to remove the sound effects & work on production elements. Would be a fun cut on your album, for sure.

We're three songwriters pitching songs to taxi from a songwriters standpoint, not an artist. We were thinking country or rock but yea, I told the singer, Wade that he sounded a lot like Johnny Cash when he did the Hurt video. Thanks for the tip Hummingbird.Jade Music Publishing

Hello Jade,My best recommendation for you is to visit the "Forwards" and "Successes" sections of this forum. There, you'll read some listings and hear some songs that made it past the TAXI screening bar. You can then compare your work against theirs and judge where you need to improve. As Vikki said, the Country market is probably the most competitive--there are more writers and the standard for lyrics is way high.I found "Ghostrider" to be catchy, but the production and song aspects (lyrics, melody, harmony, rhythm) are pretty basic compared to what would be expected for commercial music.Good luck!Vince
