Those who have never been may think we've all gone nuts, but you REALLY need to start saving up your pennies for next year.I am not one for the touchy feely stuff. But if someone here will show me where an In And Out Burger stand is, then I will make the Rally in 2008. That is a TOP priority for me. Sorry if I offend any vegetarians.

The closest In N Out is about 3 miles away. Just outside the airport on Sepulveda. I'll probably drive down again, so I can be the taxi. Or get Matt or Von to drive. They're the locals, I just used to live there.

They're the locals, I just used to live there. I had that on my list of things to do, but once there I honestly never wanted to leave the hotel. Even most of the times that I would venture to the Subway or Taco Bell a block away, I took the Rally with me by being among you forum folks I heard several people talking about the sights they had seen, and I'm like "are you crazy????" My only regret was that I had to at least sleep a little each night Plan some time to sight see/eat before or after -- the Rally is a full time opportunity you won't want to squander. Aub

Thanks, Stick. I've never eaten an In N Out burger....I can't even spell it. But my next door neighbors are from San Diego (I live in Alabama) and they constantly rave about them. The closest thing to them here is "Whattaburger." My neighbors say it doesn't come close though.Awww, Steve, if you say so, OKAY. I'm so glad all y'all got to attend.....it's made this board so interesting the past few days.....post some more Rally stories if you can.I'd especially like to hear some Jason Blume stories since I've read his books.

Mmm.... In 'N Out burger....My wife's had this desire to go check out In 'N Out ever since we heard about it earlier this year. We were super late leaving for the airport after the Rally, but since In N Out wasn't too far out of the way, we couldn't resist stopping anyway. It was definitely worth standing in that lineup 10 minutes before our flight was supposed to board. mmmm... (We did make our plane in the end, but I think we might have had a bit of ketchup on our faces..)

My last encounter with In-n-Out Burger was in San Francisco, where we took a busload of 8th graders in for lunch on a field trip and wound up standing in line behind a guy wearing only leather chaps and a G-string! The kids got a little introduction to life in S.F., and I got a serious reduction in my appetite. My favorite has always been "Fat Jack's" in the valley. I don't even know if it still exists, but it was a little hole-in-the-wall place on Ventura Blvd. in Studio City. They made these enormous greasy, sloppy burgers that were fantastic! And you had to love their slogan: "Best meat in town - if you can't eat it, beat it!". Yeah, I have to agree, the Rally love was palpable! I hadn't been to one since they were previously at the Westin, so I was sort of blown away by how much they've improved.Last time I went they didn't even have "breakout" classes. All the panels and discussions were in the main ballroom.I think they must have remodeled the lobby, too, because it sure didn't look familiar to me...Re: Jason Blume, I attended both of his breakout classes and they were both outstanding! I immediately went down and bought 2 of his books. The guy had me laughing my butt off. He's not only a gifted songwriter, but a gifted teacher as well. He told me that teaching is "his passion", and I believe it. It certainly came across in his seminars. Not only were they highly entertaining, but the sheer volume of information he imparted was a little overwhelming (one reason I bought the books).
