Thanks for posting the video. I've found youtube to be a great place to get information about subjects like this. Reading a spec sheet or magazine ad doesn't convey the depth of a lot of these leading edge products.

I'm thinking the ebow will be with us for a while, yet, if only due to the low price of admission, but the capabilities of the Moog guitar totally smoke that little battery-powered whatsit. I admit I haven't been this excited about a new product since the Variax.

Phil Keaggy is someone who's heart energy is so extravagant and life altering I can't help but be swept away by his music. In this video he's just flitting around having fun with one musical idea after another but to me it's as awesome as watching a magic act!Nov 17, 2008, 8:20am, mojobone wrote:I'm thinking the ebow will be with us for a while, yet, if only due to the low price of admission, but the capabilities of the Moog guitar totally smoke that little battery-powered whatsit. I recently made a big investment to get into MIDI guitar, but this Moog product is so much more useful, alive, and fulfilling. I haven't yet picked up an ebow so maybe I'll put it on my Christmas list. I notice that many of the patches in Omnisphere were created using an ebow on various instruments. Fun-fun-fun!-Allen

I think the E-Bow is the only piece of equipment I still have from the 70's !It's the chrome looking version.I've heard some amazing things played with an ebow while raking across 3 or 4 strings instead of the standard way people usually play it.

Oh boy... I feel like I'm a million years old! Do any of you remember the original MOOG synthesizer? My father, a composer, had a mentor named Milton Babbitt (sp?) at Columbia University, NYC who was way into the MOOG thing... I grew up thinking a MOOG synthesizer was kind of like an organ...So now there's a guitar version? I guess that makes sense. The whole early electronic music scene was based more on mathematics and less on playing music. (i.e. there was no instant sound. just lots of computer cards and output paper.) I don't know if anyone remembers that. Guess I am a dinosaur! Everything old is new again.

Wow. That Moog guitar is so cool. Watching that Keaggy video, it really looks like you can just play it naturally like a guitar. It's been a while since I tried, but the MIDI guitar stuff always seemed to require a totally different feel and approach to make it sound nice. The E-bow is one the best things I've picked up in the last 10 years.

I'm still drooling over this instrument! Some of the sounds are so liquid...........Hey Allen, how about taking a second out on your home and loaning me the $6495 to purchase this jewel? You know I'm good for it. Here's another link.
