If you think Taxi screeners are rough, try Submithub, and you may experience a whole new dimension of rough!
My initial thought was that Submithub was a place to go to have doms screaming at you "submit! submit!"

Totally agree with you! The screeners are industry pros, so, as much as it's hard to get a return, it's a chance to learn and grow, and each "no" gets you one step closer to a "yes."

The only thing I have spotted where I think they could be more helpful is if they like the song , but its the wrong style , they could suggest what style may be appropriate , I got this back " I appreciate the drive and groove of your composition " Looking back " Francis. The melodies and top line are engaging and overall I enjoyed this " it then says a " none starter " because of the style .

I hear ya but keep in mind that their job, in a reasonably limited about of time, is to decide whether a track fits THAT particular listing. Learning genres and styles is a huge part of being in this business and that's really on you. And the listings have reference tracks which are key to getting an idea of what is being asked for.

Best thing to do is post your track on this forum in peer-to-peer and ask questions in your post. Make sure you post the entire text of the listing (not a link to it as your original link won't work once the listing is expired). Posting before you submit is very helpful as others will give you opinions on whether or not it fits the listing, suggested improvements, etc. Posting after can also shed additional light on what the screener's feedback was.

Another option if you still need more help on your track is to submit for a custom critique ($20). Include your questions and what you are targeting when submitting. These custom critiques are very detailed with tons more info than a standard listing submission.

Yes quite , time will be tight . I did try peer to peer and as a new member was surprised to be trolled , he was gratuitous and belligerent , I got a private message from someone who said he is a troll and best stay away from him , I dont mind constructive criticism . I will try peer to peer from time to time as I am having unexpected probs with genre . Thanks for the advice . Frank .

Nobody is trolling you Frank, but Casey has had more songs licensed than most here and he seems to be about your age. I would recommend watching him being interviewed on Taxi TV to get an idea of how he's found success with Taxi. Hopefully it will help you.

Hey Frank
All meant in the spirit of helpfulness. I went back to your P2P posts and Mark's critique (I assume that's who you are referring to) and although Mark can be harsh at times (we've had our moments!), I didn't see that in his feedback. Honestly, it was your reaction to his feedback that was overly defensive and somewhat aggressive. That's what started the back and forth contentiousness.

I think he was trying to point out that what works in one part of the music world (what you've been doing in studio, gigs, playing for people you know, etc.) often doesn't work for today's opportunities with publishers for Film/TV placement or even artist pitches. That's what Taxi is about so we generally assume that the person posting their music has that goal. That can be our incorrect assumption but sometimes the person who posts needs to make it clear that they know it's not pitchable as is but need help with the genre. (If you did that and it's been edited out, just let me know).

So what is your goal? You're here with Taxi so knowing what you want and why is the first step. And if commercial opportunities are what you do want, while we definitely can help give our opinions on a genre, learning that part of the biz is very important. So is making what we generally consider "broadcast quality" recordings.

Anyway, we are all here to help so let us know your goals and also be open to direct, honest, constructive feedback.

Best,
:D Casey
