Re: THREE more attempting to QUIT SMOKING!!!!!
Hey Non-Smoker Guys How's it going? I know there'll be times when you may want to drop the ball, but hold on. There's another thread on this forum about what's important, the journey or destination. In your case the destination will be your reward, the journey will be hell. I said this earlier, but repeating will only help. Always Remember, Never Forget why you decided to do this. This is your health...your life. You can only accomplish your musical goals if you're here. This has grown to where it's not just about yourselves anymore. I'm sure those of us on the forum that follow this thread are investing emotional support too. I also know that you're not going to let us or yourselves down. Hang in there. Billy

Re: THREE more attempting to QUIT SMOKING!!!!!
GO GO GO GO GO GO!!!Slip ups are exactly that...forgive yourself and move on Devin I was sad to read your post and to hear of all those lost lives. Though at the same time I felt inspired. I don't smoke but I have been known to in the past. I started at college when I was 18. Friends would stand smoking in the cold and I'd twiddle my thumbs until I decided I'd just smoke along with them. At one point while living in the city of Lyon I would buy a pack of 30 on my way to work and manage to smoke a couple between each metro stop, break times, lunch times, walking home, in the appartement... resulting in roughly twenty a day. I did that for about 6 months I knew roughly what it was doing to my body but I didn't care at the time. I never felt addicted though, that's the strange thing, that's why giving up was so easy for me.My husband used to smoke 30 a day, he smoked for probably ten years. We went on holiday in 2005 and he gave up. Three years later he can't stand the smell of smoke and to my knowledge he hasn't touched a cigarette since the day he threw away the last few in the box. My dad was diagnosed with cancer in 2003, he doesn't smoke, anyway he's pretty much in the clear now I don't think he has a check up for the next two to three years. I'm rambling!Coffee...funny because this past week I've also made the same effort to put down the cup. I love green tea so I've been going mad on that instead. Full of goodness (apparently)! Guys you're doing the best thing you ever could for yourselves and those around you. Keep going...

Re: THREE more attempting to QUIT SMOKING!!!!!
OK, I have to say this first, just to get it out of my system...THREE WEEKS without a cigarette!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One month ago, just the idea of going 3 weeks without a smoke was the most alien concept imaginable. This has been one amazing ride and there is NO WAY this could've EVER happened without y'all's support. Thank you, thank you, thank you.THEN, let me say to Milfus... Do NOT look at that as anything other than a slip up. Then let it go, and try again. And keep telling yourself that your lungs were unspeakably grateful for the smoke-free hours you gifted them with. And as soon as you're ready, decide to give your lungs another gift of several MORE smoke-free hours. IF nothing else, it'll help you set yourself up (a little more prepared ) for another try.And WAY TO GO, Ibanez!!! Keep fighting, and it really will be an easier, better breath, each time. And I'm eager to hear how Solrax (Carlos) is doing...I'll keep checking back...Ted

I can promise you, I am NOT counting you out. Not now, not any time in the future.OK, here's a HUGE confession...that I had NOT expected to share before this exact moment. The biggest reason I made it through my first 16 hours is because I was so painfully hung over (AND knew I had the day off) that I slept through most of the afternoon...and I'm usually awake by 7 am. I came to The Alley so I could get online, and then I went home and started this process. That's certainly NOT a path I'd recommend, but using ANY excuse that might help is just that... something that might help.Like I said... If you need to scream and cuss... you have my cell #.Ted

Re: THREE more attempting to QUIT SMOKING!!!!!
Hey everybody,Still hangin' in there. This is my 5th day without a smoke. The cravings are still there, but they diminish with each passing day though. Feelin' better every few hours. Still been tempted to hop in the car and go to the gas station. Finished all of my Doritos, and I'm almost out of candy. At this rate, I'll be needin' a dentist real soon . Still have 2-1/2 liters of Hawaiian Punch left, and still have my bag of Cheddar cheese Frito-Lay chips. Movin' on ta' chewin' bubble gum. Haven't bothered with any of the Nicorette gum. Just tryin' ta' tuff it out with the stuff I just mentioned. How's milfus, Ted, and solrax doin'?

Re: THREE more attempting to QUIT SMOKING!!!!!
Yeah, Ibanez. WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 I am SO happy to hear this news. Couldn't possibly be any prouder of you.And Matto is 100% correct. If you've made it through 5 days, you can DO this. It really IS all down to willpower...something that I am not great with. This thread, and the amazing encouragment from our fellow TAXIans are HONESTLY the biggest reason I believe I've made it this far.BTW, let me quickly just shout out.... 22 days and counting!!!! TYGMTYGF!!!!Hey, Tory...Carlos... I KNOW y'all are going to read this sooner or later. Just check in. Even if you've broken down and bougtht a pack. No worries. Just let us know so we can offer a shoulder, an ear, or some words of support. OK? Just the fact that you are TRYING to do this means that a big part of you WANTS to do this. It's worth trying again. And we are here.Ted
