No I actually think you just have an ego problem. You're reaction to the 3 returns indicates as much.

Example : My wife refuses to let me attend the kids parents evening at school because I am too direct with the teachers. She tries to be all nice to them whereas personally I will say what I think and if it hurts their feelings it's their problem...If someone is equally direct with me, I prefer that to politically correct wishy washy BS which seems to be the way of things now - like how everyone gets a medal these days even if they come last at sports day. I just don't agree with it.

I know.... it's one of my best qualities
I think you mean not having one...my other best quality
Thank you...I would love to see how you react to genuine online abuse.
Call me whatever you like Robert, I stand by all my feedback. Every word.
Sounds like you've been brainwashed by some sort of corporate feedback delivery course or something ? What was it ?
I'll afford them the same amount as my own teachers afforded me. Which is not very much. Plus there's nothing to stop them getting a proper job.
I wouldn't go that far ......

Re: Three Songs Returned
Yes , let's do that.

Taxi rules don't allow libraries to be named ( most are on Google if you wanna submit ) but to restate your question " I wanted to know how difficult it is for a person who produces music with vocals to get placed in the industry "
It''s hard , and if you're going via the unsolicited route which you're perfectly entitled to it's even harder. Even once accepted a song can sit in a Library for years before the right spot comes along - if at all.
Yes they are more lucrative than instrumental cues, a nice sync fee can far outweigh the backend of a reality show cue. But when you ask " what the market is " I can honestly say there is no " market " low quality productions. If you send them songs with pitchy vocals, out of time instruments and muddled mixes then no library is going to be interested. You can listen to many library catalogues online, I urge you to go and compare your stuff with what's signed already and note the differences.
Until you can accept that you're consistently below the bar and fix it, you won't even have a horse in the race. Is that enough insight for you ?

Re: Three Songs Returned
It seems the tracks have been removed from Soundcloud? Could you perhaps also post the listing (I may have missed that).Robertj64 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 23, 2020 8:38 pmHey there
Screener 19 has returned three of my songs. Here are the links:
https://soundcloud.com/vocalsky/nouveau-riche
https://soundcloud.com/vocalsky/looking-out-for-love
https://soundcloud.com/vocalsky/mojito
For "Nouveau Riche":
Screener: I think you could improve this song by a more modern sound- current instrumentation- and more island friendly vocal style needed to help up the sync appeal of this song. I returned or forwarded this song because higher quality instrumentation- esp the beats- needed to create the kind of song that librarians and supervisors need to hear.
My response: This is a reggaeton beat. These beats are distinctive and I researched mine before laying it down. I have a large Native Instruments package. I use Battery 4 as the software. How am I supposed to get a more modern sound? It IS modern unless you are expecting a 2030 Future Dance song which I have no software for yet. My software is not even 9 months old.
For "Looking Out For Love"
Screener: I think you could improve this song by updating the beats/and keyboards and adding a bit more color to your sound palette. I returned or forwarded this song because a music supervisor might find this difficult to use because I didn't hear a totally memorable developmental arc or quality instrumentation .
My response: See my above comment on previous song. Updating beats and "quality instrumentation" is simply not accurate here. A "developmental arc" is a bit limited in a dance/pop track that needs a consistent beat throughout.
For "Mojito"
Screener: I think you could improve this song by a more colorful sound palette with more modern instrumentation/beats and delivering the choruses with a more confident lead vocal. I returned or forwarded this song because because the story is so Island focused.. Mojito's/Island's /Seas the lyric isn't general enough to work in a lot of situations without causing potential conflicts.
My response: There are plenty of projects out there that deal with settings at a beach. This is general enough that it could be included in a library for those occasions. It can be a seasonal thing but so what ....so is Christmas...right? Again the same screener brought up instrumentation/beats. For a pop song, this beat is quite modern and more modern than many of the songs (if not all) that the panelists were given at the RR
In conclusion, these songs are built on reggaeton beats. Reggaeton is fairly new to the scene especially English North America. It is a bit older in Central and South America and the Caribbean but the basics of the beat have not changed. What is NEW about the way I have produced them is that they are fashioned into a pop song format. They contain no rap and are sung in English. No updating on beats is necessary here. The format is ahead of its time. No one else is doing this at the moment.
I have the same three songs coming back in two other categories. I guess I can expect the same treatment. Taxi needs to REWARD innovation not hinder it. Did this screener view the panels and watch the panelist before critiquing the songs or did he/she just do it with their own frame of reference. I think Taxi needs a serious review on how its screeners are listening.
Cheers,
Matt

Re: Three Songs Returned
I would like to post here and make some points and like I said on another website, I will try to be brief and with the facts.
1. Under Taxi rules, number 12 says: "Be respectful to other forum members or you will be banned from this helpful and generous community of like-minded folks." It is a good rule and it reminds us that when we deal with other people on here, we should not engage in negative behaviors such as putdowns, insults and name-calling. I was angry on this thread and I name-called by outing Cosmic Dolphin as a bully. That should not have been done and I am sorry for that. I am free to disagree with anything he or anyone else says. My "Ego" should not be attacked for that. I like constructive feedback and I have used it to better my skills as a producer. Cass McEntee gave me great helpful hints on my version of "Silent Night". It helped to get one forward. When one uses words like "cheesy", it is not respectful, generous or helpful. "...it sounds like someone has just had a home keyboard and mashed every button on the auto accompaniment" is designed to attack and crush the intended target not just because of the negativity but also because it is meant to humiliate the target in a forum of other users. There are all kinds of these statements on this forum. If I have done so then I apologize. So, I will take partial responsibility in that I chose wrongly to fight fire with fire. What is equally important to note is that when we use these putdown metaphors and insults, we violate the rule 12 and we no longer are respectful, helpful or generous.
2. Cosmic Dolphin is right. He has been here a long time and he has helped countless people in helpful ways for many years. He KNOWS how to be civil. We can see that. Those facts do not give license to act in a negative manner. After another spat broke out on another website, Cosmic Dolphin kept this thread going by pasting one of my replies from over here. This thread was dead. I let him have the last word. My reply that he posted was:
"I asked questions on the market for vocal productions with library and not unsolicited assessments on my music. If you have any insights into what I asked for, please by all means share them. If not, I don't want to hear your comments on my music."
He posted on this thread and responded by doing exactly what I did not want him to do. Not happy with that, he went on my Soundcloud page. I have an anti-bullying song called "Stand Up" which he commented "LOL". Then he went to my Youtube page and commented on my song "Mistaken Identity" by saying "You are mistaken, Robert if you think you are a singer". Finally, he subscribed to my Youtube page. This is online harassment as I have repeatedly said that I did not want any of his inputs or insights on my music. When I did not respond on this thread, he cajoled with a "I think he may have taken his ball home."
3. I am sure that Cosmic Dolphin sees nothing wrong with "tough love" and telling it like it is. I have much in common with his upbringing. Because he had it worse when he was younger, he see nothing wrong with his behavior in these instances. However, he is wrong because this causes psychological damage. When you put someone's work down as "cheesy", it is a psychological slap to the face. It empowers the person dealing the sarcastic blow and belittles the intended victim. It is just not nice.
We can have disagreements, Cosmic as to where you feel my music is. If it is constructive criticism, I am much more receptive. You gave positive feedback here. new-song-t146291.html and this is one of the three returns. I took your comments and worked on them. But that is MY decision to make not yours to enforce. Can we please just do away with this back and forth? Let's not use negative comments designed to push people back. Let's not be impatient that people aren't progressing as fast as you think they should. I have seen your kindness on here Cosmic Dolphin. Can we have more of that please.
Respectfully,
Robert

Re: Three Songs Returned

Cheesy ? Really ? Lucky I don't work as a Screener then eh ?
I'm not a big believer in Psychology but clearly you have some sort of issue...the fragile ego, the level of denial when calling out Screeners , the accusations of bullying, the conspiracy theories about the same folks being forwarded, insinuating I'm in league with Taxi etc.
If we are talking about facts let's not forget that YOU dug up an 18 month old post of MINE on an entirely different forum that I've been a member of for almost 10 years, and in your first 2 posts responded to it and said I was one of the Taxi Forum bullies. You reap what you sow.
You alone are responsible for how you react to things you see and read Robert, if it bothers you then that's your problem to deal with - Telling people what they can and cannot say or how they can or can't express what they think isn't going to wash with me , it's just another form of censorship in this PC culture and I'm anti anything like that.
For about the 3rd or 4th time..If I bother you that much the solution is simple. Top right..user control panel..Friends & Foes...Manage Foes..make sure to type "cosmicdolphin" all in one word not two into the foes box
"Foes are users which will be ignored by default. Posts by these users will not be fully visible. "
Problem solved, you won't have to get upset and don't have to keep wasting time explaining that I don't agree. That's what the tools are designed for. Ignorance is bliss.

Didn't dig anything up. I went to the thread of my topic instead of creating a new one. They don't like new topics if an old one is active. When I spoke of the taxi forum, I didn't mention your name just that you posted above me which could be a lot of people. You outed yourself.
Why did I bother? It's hopeless. I'll leave the foe status on because your behavior is out of control.
Remember Taxi rule 12 before you post.
