Tim Reynolds Concert - Mind-blowing experience
Hi,I went to a Tim Reynolds concert last night. Tim Reynolds is a name that most people don't know. He's a friend of mind from "old music days" and was something special back then. Fast-forward 20 years later and he has evolved into an almost incomprehensible talent as a solo fusion acoustic guitar artist. My only comparison to what I saw last night is to take John McLaughlin (Mahavishnu Orchestra) at the height of his talent and to evolve beyond that somehow to the next level of fusion playing and performance. It was almost insane. If anyone, anywhere, ever has a chance to see him you will never regret whatever time or expense it takes to do that. That said, here is his schedule and I can only hope that others on this board can make one of the dates:http://www.timreynolds.com/tour/The difference between listening to a CD and watching him work is the difference between night and day. Unbelievable,Dave

These are three tracks are basically representative of what he does. I got these from a link on his site that points to this archive of live taped shows:http://www.archive.org/details/TimReynoldsKeep in mind that this is just solo acoustic guitar. I'll freely admit that watching him play adds about 1000% to the experience. I guess guitar players have a better idea of what it takes to execute this stuff, but I'm only a lowly keyboard player and needed the visual to really appreciate it. I see where you draw the comparison to JM. A very talented player indeed, especially for an admited (confessed) friend of a keyboard player. But don't shock us with sordid revelations such as he is married to a drummer!!I will definitely explore those archives--thanks for the link(s)!
