Titles; What's in A Name?

A title may be more important than you might think, or less, depending on how you think:

Definitely important!

I think of a title as the first "placement" for my songs, as it provides a context for the music. Think of the difference between "Rock song 29th of January 2012" vs "Geek Boogie", the first is just a weak description, the second has put the song in a particular frame. A title is the selling point, the USP, where you position the music relative to other music out there.

Maybe that's also why titles can be hard.. after all, we want our music to reach it's best potential, to represent and serve us well out there in market land.

In songwriting, titles matter. You need people to be able to find your stuff! : )
