Hello Screener 325,
Regarding a return of my public domain Christmas listing, Carol of the Bells, you wrote that "The track was too loose. The time jumps and pushed, disrupted the flow of the mood and melody of the piece overall".
Are you referring to the arrangement or the performance? The arrangement has a device integral to the jazz genre: syncopation. There's also a 4 over 3 segment that could be alluded to. If it's the performance, we all tracked to a click, and this a pretty tight-a$$ cut to my ears. If it doesn't fit the listing, I utterly understand, but calling the track loose needs some clarification.
Fellow TAXI members, give it a listen and render your opinion, please. It's on my TAXI page.
Thanks, though, for the forward of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.
Concernedly,
"Too Loose"-- the arrangement or performance?

Re: "Too Loose"-- the arrangement or performance?
it sounded fine to me. except for the hit at 0:28 something was a little off, a simple edit to fix. but not off enough that I would say its "loose" either.
but other than that, nothing wrong here with the performance.
like you mentioned - its probably the arrangement that is raising some hairs - sure there is some rhythmic push pull, but its gotta be that way if you make those hits and the change in time feel in the last part of the theme. I personally like the reinvention of standards (like Billy Childs "Loverman" - nice nice nice) but maybe that's went a little past the screener's comfort zone.
congrats on God Rest. that's a fun version.

Thanks for your time and feedback. I'm hip to Billy Childs, but not his take on Lover Man; must give it a listen.
Cheers,
Niall
