Too risque for country radio ?
Was wondering if this was too risque for the virgin ears of the average country fan what with all the teacher/ student shenanigans going on these days. Anyway , I think it's pretty funny. OLD SCHOOL c. 2008 Paul Gregory V1 When I was a young kid Thought I was pretty cool Cuttin' every other class Smokin' in the boy's room Then one day I learned All about the golden rule Teacher took me by the ear She said '' see me after school'' (spoken) pre So I'd better hit the books boy And make the grade Or there's gonna be hell to pay !ch Cause I'm an old school fool Livin' by them old school rules X2 I'm a fast talkin' , sharp shootin' Hell raisin' son of a gunV2 No more being tardy Is it Monday mornin' yet? Just tryin' to get me a front row seat Now who's the teacher's pet ? She had to show this bad old dog A new trick or two I'm gonna take my licks Man you know it's truepre So I'd better hit them books boy And make the grade Or there's gonna be hell to pay!ch Cause I'm an old school fool Livin' by them old school rules I'm a fast talkin' , sharp shootin' Hell raisin' son of a gunbr Now she's comin' down the hallway Can't find a word to say Dog ate the homework That excuse ain't gonna cut it ! Cause I'm an old school fool Livin' by them old school rules I'm an old school fool Baby are you old school too? I'm a fast talkin' , sharp shootin' Hell raisin' son of a gun All rights reserved

Paul,I must be missing something. I don't get it. Am I supposed to know what the teacher did with the kid after school? I would assume she just talked to him, disciplined him ... but then where is the risque part???And the first 2 lines of the chorus seem to say the total opposite of what the last 2 lines say. I am not sure why.Might be my problem. Maybe I didn't read it close enough or missed something.Dean

i didn't "get" the teacher/student relationship vibe...is it supposed to be obvious? if so, i missed it. which, for country radio, is probably a good thing! that said, as just a song about a guy in school, it doesn't seem to...well...i mean, i guess i'm trying to say "what's the point?" but maybe i'm just missing it? erin

Re: Too risque for country radio ?
Hey guys, I appreciate the comments. I guessit doesn't really have a point . Just thought it would be funny to imagine some big burly country dude magically transported back to the classroom - you know , trying to squeeze into a tiny desk , getting dragged by the ear, being all ga-ga over the hot schoolteacher etc... I guess it was more of a video idea than a song idea and the lyrics don't really explain too much , so you need to use your imagination , probably not such a good thing , anyway we'll see what taxi thinks as it will be submitted to the next suitable listing . Demo's in the can Peace

Re: Too risque for country radio ?
I don't think it's risque. There are still some people in this town who won't pitch a song with the word "hell" in it. Toby Keith can get away with it, any hot artist can get away with it, but if someone is looking for a reason to pass on a song from one of us, "hell" might just be that reason.Other than that, the story isn't tight enough. I didn't realize that verse two was about this guy grown up until you explained it in your post. If you hadn't posted the lyric, I would have guessed the title of the song was "Old School Fool" because that's repeated way more than the hook is - plus it's a cool hook.Good luck with it. Taxi's pretty tough on country submissions.Claire
