Top ten in USA songrwriting Competition! :)

Post by andreh » Sun Mar 25, 2007 6:18 pm

Hi Gang-I just found out that my song "Candy Shines" was a top-10 finalist in the hiphop category for the 2006 USA Songwriting Competition, which was open to world-wide entries last year:http://www.songwriting.net/winners.html (look under finalists in hiphop or search for the song name)Winning would've been great, but I feel pretty good about placing! Props to Omari Bobo (aka Kontious1) who performed the rap, and to several of my ex's who did the backup vocals. You can hear the tune here:http://www.broadjam.com/transmit/transm ... sq=1Thanks for listening,Andre

Pretty good.Take the number of entries to that category. Take away 10. Makes your song better than the amount of songs in the resulting figure.I think that makes sense.Anyway. That's a really good way to look at it.There can't be a lot of difference in quality between the top 10.

Hey Andre,Congrats! I liked the cut a lot. Everything was right where it needed to be. Did you write all the lyrics for the rap? That was well done. The synth clav caught my ear right away as well. Two questions: 1. How can a guy as busy as you have time to have one ex, let alone SEVERAL? 2. How did you manage to get them all in the same room at the same time? Keep it going man, you're on your way.John

An ex is an ex without the 'S'. Did you manage to get them in the same room at the same time? You're a brave man.

Sound familiar? Andre

I did write the rap, and I even "spit it" in the first version...but no matter how much PurePitch formant shifting I applied, I couldn't get my voice to sound "not white" enough.
