Tracks Of My Tears
Well, I was putting this together for a cover song listing for different arrangements of motown, oldies etc. Only problem is they want "contempory" versions & don't think this will fly for what they want, although I'm still gonna submit it (yeah I know, I never learn). Steve Gilbert added some great piano . . . I think this turned out kinda cool & something will turn up for it sooner or later. it's done unless any of you hear some kind of glaring screw-up, so let me have it!http://www.billgaunce.com/song/4

It could also be my speakers too....maybe it's not the production. Good luck with it! As far as current, well, who knows, it might get through.Really, I'm always hard pressed to find anything wrong with what you do! Your songs are always pretty amazing.

Hi billg, I like this track a lot. I'm not good at producing and stuff, but it sounds very full and 3 dimensional to me and all that stuff. This is the first track I think I hear from ya and it's really put together well. The singing is spot on, it almost has a Tom Petty kind of vibe -- but a little edgier which is good.As far as being "contemporary" and appropriate for the listing, I'm not sure either. I mean anything would be more contemporary than a Motown version, right? If I had a track this good, I would have submitted it too. Heh.-Victor

Good track Bill!I'm hearing the same distortion on my end, so I don't think it's your speakers, Chits. Coming from the acoustic on the left side, I think.Really full production with cool take on the original... I think I like the feel of this one better!Good luck with it man... even if it may not be the most 'current' sound out there, it's still a very good arrangement!

Re: Tracks Of My Tears
Thanks folks! I had trouble with setting the eq for the acoustic guitar So I don't doubt there's a problem there. I'm gonna go check it out now & I'll repost it. Thanks for the use of your ears, mine are shot!

Just re-uploaded what I hope is a better mix with some of the problems addressed, at least I think I fixed the acoustic distortion.http://www.billgaunce.com/song/4

"current" schmurrent...this is terrific. Edgy, emotional, energetic... (I love alliteration). If this doesn't get through for this particular listing, it WILL for something else.Really nice job. And Steve's piano work...smack dab RIGHT in the pocket.Ted

Re: Tracks Of My Tears
Bill, that's the best new version of that that I've heard since Linda Ronstadt's. Beautiful job. Yeah, the sounds are old-school, but the mix has a contemporary feel to my ear, maybe partly because I've never heard it done at quite that tempo. Submit, you'd only smoke the fiver, anyway. There's a cymbal that cuts off rather quickly in the intro, sounds unnatural, and the whole mix is just ever-so-slightly harsh. I'd run the two-mix through a tube processor set clean, just to knock off a little edge-maybe that's me, I'm on studio cans at the moment, I'll listen on the big monitors later and get back to you. Care to discuss how you got them drum sounds?
