TV-Film anyone?
Hello all, I would greatly appreciate any comments and or opinions as to where a piece like this
might fit, I personally think it might work well as a theme song for a sitcom, but that's just me.
I know this song is in need of a remix, just haven't gotten to yet!
The song is "Catharsis"

I thought it was a cool piece, but not sure about sitcom. Don't most sitcoms have lyrics? When I think of sitcoms, I think of the themes from Growing Pains, Facts of Life or Friends, which I know are all older. I don't watch any of the newer ones, so maybe it's changed.
Personally, I could hear it either on the Sci-Fi channel, because of the weird synth sounds that you used at around 50 seconds and later on. Or, I could also hear it on the Travel channel. Just my opinion.
Goodl luck!

Hi Bill,
Have to agree with greggo. To me, it doesn't have a sitcom feel, especially because of the detuning synth around the 0:37-0:54sec area.
To be honest, I think you could have two songs here. Do something more synth based with those sounds which might play well for Discovery, Sci-fi etc. shows. Then have your original song with a brighter, happier lead and it might work for a sitcom.
I think there's a lot of good stuff, but to my ears there are those two distinct feels going on and maybe they don't mesh well. But then, I'm only new to this and have no placements to my name so take my comments with a large handful of salt!

this was really unique. the way you brought a "bend" into the main theme - I really liked it. I compliment you on that. About the bass conterpoint (or at least that's the way i heard it) -- I 'd love to hear the "bend" (yeah, my term) repeated lower.
it's very rare that i like a piece in the sense that i hear where i think where i think where it might go. this was nice.

Hi Bill. Nice intro. Up to 39 secs (and after 2.15) the melody (the top note on the piano) could be louder. I like the guitar work. I think the bends on the synth (39 - 55) are a bit cheesy and maybe there's not enough melody there in that section - although it might work with a softer lead sound. The overall flavor (without the bending synths) could work well for library music. Those synths would be very intrusive under a voice-over. The recording quality sounds great to me. Doug

Hello All, Thanks for all the feedback on my song " Catharsis", I have to admit that for as much as I really love
this particular version, I still consider it a work in progress, the guitar parts were my latest addition to the song.
Also, for as much I do like the synth bends, I hear where you coming from. At the moment I happen to be moving
my little project studio to a new location, bit by bit
, probably another week before I am completely set up.
Thanks again

This reminded me a little of the "How it's made" music found on Discovery or one of the History channels. They use alot of that stuff when they're showing how a particular item is being produced.
Neat piece regardless.
