Using Taxi's listings
Hi,I've just received my mail from Taxi and noticed quite a few entries that were suited to my production style. Do I have to be a Taxi member to send my work to these companies? I'm not a member yet as I'm pretty strapped for cash! Also, can I submit music to the Taxi website whilst I am not a member?Thank you!

Yep, you have to be a member to submit any music to TAXI, the listings are just to show you what kind of things you could be submitting to if you decide to join up.Dan

Only members can submit music to the listings. In the meantime, while you decide on what you'd want to do, hanging around here is a pretty good thing to do. People generally post music that was forwarded as well as music that was returned, plus music for which deals of various kinds were offered. There's "learning" in listening to all of those categories.Glad you're here...Dave

Thanks guys!I have to confess, I'm pretty low on funds and as yet I'm pretty new to the industry and haven't had any real benchmarks or achievements by which I can judge the quality of my music so it might be a while before I can join fully.

You can post links to music in peer to peer to get an idea if your stuff is up to snuff; jes' be prepared to return the favor and review stuff for others,

You're getting the listings, so pick a listing you think you have a piece of music for, post (in Peer to Peer), the text of the listing, the lyrics (if any) and a link to the song, and ask if we feel it would be on target for the listing. (In return, please listen & comment on other people's music). In addition, you will see people posting roughs/final cuts they plan to submit to listings, and also posting about their forwards. Read & listen, and comment yourself. You can learn a lot here about how to use your Taxi membership to the fullest.welcome aboard

There are some very talented and successful people on here that are more than willing to help out. Just reading through the posts here have taught me a lot. When I first found out about TAXI I was in the same boat as you. My advice is to get a decent computer based setup - Decent computer, decent interface, mics, monitors, and DAW. Don't go out blowing your money on a bunch of tritons, MPC's, Motif's etc. You can get as good and most of the time better results with software instruments for a fraction of the cost. If you are on a budget, get what you need and don't succumb to gear lust. There are plenty of forum members that can point you in a good direction here if you give them your budget and what you are looking to do.Write as much as you can and use these forums to help you learn and get better. Then, when you have the funds and are getting confident with your music, join TAXI. Don't get another guitar or keyboard or whatever. Invest in something (that would be TAXI ) that will help your music make you money instead of spend your money.I know the 300 bucks along with the $5 submission fee is a hit, but TAXI is really one of the absolute best investments you can make in your music career. I am more than happy with the deals I've got through TAXI in less than a years time.Good luck, welcome, and definitely stick around the forum!-Steve

DAW = Digital Audio Workstation. Its basically a software program that you use to record and edit audio. Logic, Sonar, Pro Tools etc. are all DAWs.-Steve
