Man I love that melody! it's haunting yet really pretty. Kinda melancholy. Can't get it out of my head...

My critique would be that the track on whole MAY be a tad rhythmically off in places. Slight inconsistencies with the rhythm guitar with volume and rhythm. Slight timing issues on occasion with your lead. I also think you should cut it sooner. The whole song. I love that main lick SO much but I wonder if you didn't go on a bit too far? Can't be more specific. I would just think ALOT of people are going to be submitting so the screeners will end up being pretty picky.

Thanks, Graham. May go listen again. Trying to think if the listing specified that it be at least 2 minutes long but was my feeling as well that it was a bit repetitive - will listen again, see if I can come up with something. Also think I'll go back through and solo everything against the drums,etc. to check on the timing issues. Thanks, glad you like it.

I really like this - the only thing that pulls me out of the 1960s is the drums sound TOO good. (I just asked about drums on one of mine, so I may be over listening on that topic at the moment.)

On my iPhone, the toms have the kind of fast attack that would make them cut through in modern music, but back then, individual drums weren't miced, gated, compressed. Do you have a room sound set? Is the kick doing straight eighth notes in some places? Or, is the attack from the toms creating that impression?

With less attack, I think the drums would fit down into the mix more like back then, and would likely soften any subtle timing issues, and this one would be squarely on target:)

Thank you, I agree. The drum sound bothers me to...I tweaked the addictive drums settings, I may, er, tweak them back. Thanks for that.

FOr the record, the cjanges made to the drums just involved tweaking the faders on the room and overhead mics, something I hadn't experimented before. May not have worked in this case but surprising how you can make your drums sound startlingly different doing this. WOrth experimenting with I think.

Hey Chuck,

Just listened to the lastest mix on your Soundcloud. I really think this mix gels much better, really sounds great now--except that I think you've got a little too much distortion on the drums. I use AD, too, and this sounds like ... maybe the "Crunch" distortion on the kick, or on the overheads? Either way, to my ears there's a little too much fuzz, and it seems to be pulsing with the drums.
