It's not about what you can or can't do, so much as how well the functions are integrated into the program. Reaper can do almost any MIDI editing function, but often requires a plugin DL such as Tobybear's to do some of the more sophisticated stuff that's built into Sonar and its ilk, your groove and percentage quantize, force-to-key, and other kinds of rhythmic transforms. Maybe I need to delve a little deeper in Reaper, I just don't use it for anything that requires deep MIDI editing, and some of my virtual instruments don't play nice with Reaper. (mostly stuff that's proprietary to other sequencers, though)

OK. I ordered the computer yesterday and should have it within a week! Now, it's down to the DAW.Question, on the compatability chart for EZDrummer it list Sonar PE/SE, I don't see anything refering to PE or Se when I look into the sonar info. Would the Home 7, or Home 7XL be compatible?

PE should stand for Producers Edition and SE for Studio Edition (just for clairification purposes). We have Producers Edition. We've been using Reason and Stylus with modifications. All of this discussion is making us look at expanding in yet another area Always room for upgrades!!!There are a few other things ahead of drums in the list unfortunately.

Hey all! Well, thus far I am leaning toward Mackie Tracktion as it appears to be the simplest DAW ( not a real computer guy here:). My new computer will be in tomorrow, so I'm gonna try downloading as many different demo's over the next few weeks as i can. So far I like what Mackie has. Oh well, only 'hands on' will tell! Thanks again for all the support and input everyone!

I am a confirmed Sonar user. Everything is easy! However, I've been using it since forever... I also have Cubase but it ticks me off quite a bit. Main differences in the different Sonar packages ( I also have an old Home Edition ) are:Home is fine if you are just doing audio recording on a PC.Studio brings in the ability to work with video right along with your audio.Producer does all the above but allows you to sync up various timecode driven machines. There are also a lot of other differences in each package that sort of dedicates each package to a certain kind of work. I don't do a lot of video but I do sync to several other machines. This always drives me to the Producer Edition.
