Why I won't be rejoining Taxi next year...

Post by inyourdefense » Mon Oct 13, 2008 5:58 am

Hey guys,New to the forum. It's good to be here. You know, I haven't had a lot of success with Taxi, but that's honestly not the reason I have beef with the whole process. I'm willing to concede imperfections in what I do and am open to various opinions. However, the last review I received really sealed the deal for me when it comes to not joining again. We are paying enough money for this service to at least expect a certain standard of expertise and professionalism from the reviewers. And honestly, the last review I received was just.... poorly written. How am I supposed to take a critique from a so-called 'professional reviewer' seriously, when half the beginnings of sentences aren't capitalized, slang is used, and the absolute wrong adjectives are selected to describe things? For example, I would NEVER use the word "kinda" in a professional review. That's the type of word high school students use when they're chatting on msn.The box where I was told why the song was not forwarded said exactly: "combination of singer whispering and run on melodic structure ruins much of the song."There is no whispering in the song whatsoever. There are quiet parts and loud parts but it's all very clearly sung, to a melody. So again, how am I supposed to take this seriously when it's described so incorrectly? And while the phrase 'run on melodic structure' might mean something to the reviewer, I have no idea personally what it means....so it doesn't help me one bit, other than leaving me to wonder what exactly IS wrong with it.Anyway, I would just expect that given how much we pay annually plus for each submission, that the reviewers would at least be capable of stopping to proofread what they've written. I won't mention which reviewer I had in particular because I don't want to get anybody in trouble. I suppose Taxi really is great for some and not for others, and it's just not personally for me.

The problem is that anything that might need fixing doesn't get fixed if you don't contact Taxi. Getting the screener "in trouble", may or may not happen depending on the circumstances but if they do get in trouble or even lose their job it's no fault but their own. They go through an EXTENSIVE training program and there's a very large training manual that pretty much says on every other page that there are certain consequences for not following protocols laid out on each of those pages. The screeners are screened internally and also by outside Taxi members... but that screening is random (they can't rescreen tens of thousands of submissions). This is one of those deals where contacting Taxi is the way to go. If this issue is as you say (and I'll just take your word that it is) leaving it for the rest of us to experience isn't very helpful. And you're right... posting a screener# here wouldn't be very helpful since it's only one side of one person's experience.Taxi DOES want to know about anything and everything that isn't being handled in a professional manner... especially the critiques. Give them a call.HTH,Dave

This is a bullshit posting. You're too well-spoken to be telling the truth about your experience with a screener. And if you were serious about learning how to write songs that Taxi might find useful, you wouldn't just quit when you read something you didn't like in a review. If you were angry about actually hearing the language you say you read in a review, you'd be indignant enough to not give a rat's ass about getting a screener in trouble. And that screener would take his/her lumps and learn correctly. I don't think you are here to complain about Taxi's service. You are here to convince some other members to stop paying Taxi for a service, because you are working for a competitor of Taxi. Your post reeks of covert intent, not anger. Why call yourself, inyourdefense ? If you want anyone to believe you, link your song, cut and paste review and the listing you sent if for. Otherwise, go away and think of some other way to show us your lame attempt to discredit Taxi's quality standards. I am a Taxi mole, and Taxi pays me $1,000,000 a year to ferret out nimrods like you who show up hoping to screw Taxi out of business. And I sell bridges.

I agree with Dave. Let 'em know what happened and how you feel about it. You said the "..last review I received really sealed the deal for me... " Same reviewer or different ones?

Why haven't you called Taxi customer service? If you are indeed a member of Taxi, then you pay for that service too. Why wouldn't you use it if you are so passionate about getting value from your membership? If you feel your review is under par, then call them and speak to them about it!!! It's toll free. You have a responsibility to do so, if indeed your complaint is real and valid. Not only for yourself, but for every other member.Otherwise... as Jimi clearly posts in the pinned thread at the top of this section:Ok, heres the deal.If you complain about a review you got from TAXI, then you have to post the ENTIRE review you are complaining about (that includes the part that states WHY YOU WERE NOT FORWARDED), along with the listing you submitted to, and THEN, heres the catch, you have to allow other members to review the song in the same format as TAXI did.For those of you reviewing, please get the review form here: http://taxi.proboards27.com/index.cgi?b ... 1073947717

I am a Taxi mole, and Taxi pays me $1,000,000 a year Darn, Steve! I get only 800,000 a year to be a mole; I'm going to quit!INYOURDEFENSE - Just call Taxi customer service to get the problem addressed. They will take care of the problem much faster than venting on the board will. I'm going to agree that I found 1 review I received to have a lot of slang terms in it, and to be far less than professional in tone, but it happened only once. Since then, they have all been in depth and professional.
