Quote:Well, my round base mic stand wouldn't hold it without tipping, so I brought up an old tripod one and its broken. I don't want to have to go out and buy a new stand too in addition to all the money i've spent recently, so hopefully the dumbells will work. Many years ago I had a nice little keyboard setup (before all the virtual instrument midi stuff) and I used ironing boards as the keyboard stands. Musicians do strange things with dumbells and ironing boards sometimes.

Yeah improvising is always important...my first mic stand was a broken lamp with a mic taped to the top

lol Dave...when I first got out of school my only piece of furniture was an ironing board. An incredibly versatile piece of gear, used at various times as a computer desk, TV stand, keyboard stand, and even once in a while...for ironing (ironic isn't it? okay I'll stop now).

Wound up gluing a 25 pound dumbell onto the base of the mic stand with liquid nails glue. It will be ready to use tomorrow, but it looks like its going to work out well.

Whatever it takes! You'll never lose a deal because of how your mic stand looks

Reflection filter is a must in a nontreated room imo..Allthough I have a semitreated room to record vocals in; I just ordered a reflection filter myself some days ago, to take my recordings to a more dry level.Headphones? Currently using Sony MDR 7506 for vocal recording. Bright and very discoish. Great for tracking but leaking a lil, allthough not more than I can remove by a normal noisegate.Try to get a used pair but keep in mind that used ones might be that - used; as the MDR 7506 ain't too good to resist the tooth of time.Premixing on Sennheiser HD650, wich is the closest to my monitors I've ever been; speaking of sonic image.

They've received excellent reviews for everything, especially comfort and noise cancelling properties. A reviewer said that the sound quality difference between these and the top of the line Bose was a difference only detectible by a dog. We'll see once I get them.

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

Who knows...I could use it and create an image of a gladiator singer with my, I believe its 45 pouds now, mic stand I could toss that thing in the air and probably knock out some lights in a club and make for a more interesting performance.
