Vocal Sounds/Chops in Instrumentals

Post by kitbenz51 » Tue Jul 21, 2020 7:19 pm

Hello everyone! My question is about instrumental cues.
Obviously every one of these listings says "no vocals" but i'm wondering if it's cool to submit vowels and vocal chops to carry melodies. This is a SUPER popular thing that I hear a lot in ads and on tv. Mainly popular in blues/rock, rock and EDM.
Wondering what the line is I guess. Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Kit

The line is definitely unclear and it will depend on each library's preference. Having said that, the listings seem to be specifying this more often lately. So maybe just use them when that particular listing says it's OK.
Here are some examples from current listings which you can use as a guide.

Although the references have vocals, this request is for Instrumentals only. You can use some simple, non-lyrical vocalizations to add some additional ear candy to your tracks.

TAXI Tip: You can use some simple, non-lyrical vocal chants to add more "in-your-face" energy to your tracks. Please do not submit Full Vocal Performance Songs, as only vocal elements like, “whoas,” “yeahs,” “heys,” “woo-hoos,” etc., will work for this pitch.

Vocal sounds that are oohh / ahhh and blended into the mix should be fine
