Volume/Expression keeps turning down automatically in Kontakt/Spitifre

Post by steveprobst » Fri Jun 05, 2020 11:47 am

It's my first time using Kontakt with a Spitfire library. Wondering if my problem is a simple operator error thing:

After loading instrument and briefly playing, expression/volume drops to zero. I have to push it back up to play, but it continuously does this. Kontakt works fine with one other free library installed.

When volume turns off, I notice I can press and hold keys down and notes sound depending on how hard I hold and push down, but let go, and no sound. Until I reset volume of course which just turns off again.

Unusable until I find a solution. :(

Have you drawn some MIDI CC in your MIDI/instrument tracks?? And what library are we talking about here?

I can make this happen without recording a track. But when I do attempt to record I see a cc 111 happening in piano roll/logic. I believe I've seen this before, never knew what it
was, but never was an issue until now.
Just bought Albion Tundra.

Steve,
I have a keyboard with a bad pitch wheel. makes things go out of tune unless I give the wheel a "thwack" every now and then. Is it possible that one of your controllers has a similar 'jittery' slider or pot? Can you disconnect all your MIDI controllers to see if the problem stops? If it really is a MIDI control message being spuriously generated, then you will be able to trace the data that you see in the piano roll view back to the offending device. Hope that helps!

I think you meant cc11, which, if it has a value of 0, is the reason behind your volume going to nil.
As Alan suggested, disconnect your MIDI devices, see whether that cc still happens, then reconnect the devices 1 by 1 until you find the culprit.

And good choice of library, by the way!

Thanks for responding guys! I'm only using one midi keyboard, Axiom 61.

Unplugged it and just recorded notes with Logic musical typing keyboard. Works fine.

It's definitely Ctrl 111 in piano roll . "Ch. 1: Ctrl 111" when I press harder on keys, draws data from 0-127

I put up a "HELP" on M-Audio support as well.
