WARNING: Suggestive/Explicit Lyrics

Post by DannyWeber » Tue Oct 30, 2018 4:35 pm

I did these in the late 90’s when I was going through my Trent Reznor/Fred Durst phase . I re-mastered them today, do they work for the listing? The lyrics are totally inappropriate (LOL) and in the description on Sound Cloud. I would probably get blocked if I posted them here. Just sayin’, don’t get “Pissed Off” at me!

Thanks for your time,
Dan

ROCK SONGS with Male Vocals and "edgy" lyrics are needed for an (up to), $25,000, NON-Exclusive, Direct-to-Music-Supervisor placement in a popular TV Series on HBO. They’re searching for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that would fall within the general stylistic ballpark of the following references they provided to us:
WARNING: Some of the references have graphic and explicit lyrics. Listener discretion is advised.
“Rape Me” by Nirvana
“Closer” by Nine Inch Nails
“The H.I.V. Song” by Ween
Give them well-crafted Rock songs that would likely be described as being lyrically inappropriate. Be sure your submissions have authentic-sounding Rock instrumentation, with memorable melodies and an infectious, edgy chorus. You should have a distinctive vocal performance that’s sung with conviction and authenticity if you’d like to get the Supervisor’s attention.
TAXI Tip: They're looking for music that will play under a character who's "universally disliked but has somehow found himself in a position of power. Viewers are consistently left wondering how he's able to be in the position he is in. To drill this home, we need songs that are going to make viewers scratch their heads, and will perhaps even make them uncomfortable and bit squirmy."
Although they didn’t ask for specific lyric themes, they would love to hear songs that are lyrically inappropriate and will kind of make you say, 'huh?' Lyrics that avoid references to specific names, places, dates, times, and brands could make your song more appealing, but we don’t think it’s critical for this pitch. Please do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

Hey Dan. I loved both songs and I think they would do well for this listing. They have a very authentic vibe and production and they ask for " edgy " lyrics and I think you have them in both songs. Loved the lead guitar riffs :)

Thanks, Tom!

I surprisingly, ran the lead guitar riffs through the amp sim and effects in the VS-880 8-bit digital recorder. I recorded everything ultimately, on 2 ADAT recorders (cost me $3000 for those Alesis ADAT XT20s). Now you can do it all on a $500 computer (ouch!).

Also..
Miking amps in those days, was totally out of my league and budget. Thank God for 21st Century technology!

All the best,

Dan
