Hello.
Has anyone used the Waves Vocal Collection on their vocal tracks? This is a collection of 4 vocal plugins from 4 famous audio engineers:
1- Tony Maserati and his Maserati VX1 Vocal Enhancer
2- Eddie Kramer and his Eddie Kramer Vocal Channel
3- Chris Lord-Alge and his CLA Vocals
4- Jack Joseph Puig and his JJP Vocals
Waves is having a February sales special ($199). I considering purchasing?
I've checked out 4 YouTube videos. Each video had a demo of a different plugin. You can certainly hear the difference in sound quality compared to when they are bypassed. However, I find it hard to tell the difference in sound quality when comparing with each other.
If these plugins are not recommended, can you recommend others?
Also, would it be best, in your opinion, to forgo the use of audio plugins? Thereby, I would use other means in improve vocal quality?
Please let me know what you think.
Thanks in advance,
Dave

Hi Dave, i've used the first 3 and as with almost all Waves plugins, they're really high quality. Not to mention put together by some of the business' best mixing/recording engineers. Bundle price is really attractive too.dvl2 wrote: Has anyone used the Waves Vocal Collection on their vocal tracks? This is a collection of 4 vocal plugins from 4 famous audio engineers:

But as with anything it will depend on your own skills, your own preferences, your own music styles etc whether they're the right fit for you. It's easy to get quick improvements on a dull vocal signal due to the all-in-one build of these plugins (compression, eq, simple fx). For more precies eq, compression or more control over your effects, separate plugins tend to be more suitable.
Waves has demo versions, right? See if you can try this bundle out.
Good luck,
Jay

Re: Waves Vocal Collection. Anyone worked with these?
Hi Jay, Hello Alex,
Sorry I took a while to respond. I've been busy for the last couple of days, mostly on non-music related events.
Jay,
Thanks for the info.
I do have separate effects plugins, many from Waves. I do use them. However, I think, that after many years, my engineering skills STILL need much work (to say the least). I think getting the plugins might be a good idea. I think my vocals should improve enough without the need of any fine adjustment. In fact, I've had experiences where I've ruined recording by over-processing them.
Alex,
Go to http://www.waves.com and click on the upper banner. It should say "February Sweetheart Deals" It's best to click on it before it replaced by another banner advertising one of their other specials.
The Signature Vocal Series second from the right on top.
Good Luck!
Thanks again Jay!
