Went to a Bryan Adams concert last night...

Post by kevinmathie » Mon Sep 28, 2009 7:16 am

I went to a Bryan Adams concert last night that was very inspiring! There was no band, just him playing an acoustic guitar. Sometimes his pianist would come out, but more than half the 2-hour concert was done solo.In this day of lip-syncing and pre-recorded/sequenced tracks and huge productions with dancers, laser lights and special effects, it was wonderful to go to a concert that was stripped to the bare minimum. It let me focus again on his words and melody, and, of course, his great stage presence and rapport with the audience.Fantastic concert. Made me want to learn songwriting instead of just composition.... K

Well, I know he's probably not everyone's cup of tea, and to tell you the truth, I've never owned any Bryan Adams CDs. I just know the songs that were popular on the radio. I went to the concert because A) my wife likes him and wanted to go, and B) I know the people who run the theatre and got free tickets. But, when I got there, I really, really liked the concert. He did a great job.

I've got your back, Kevin. Bryan Adams is freakin' amazing live both with full-band and without. He played with a couple other very very well-known bands when I saw him and he totally blew them out of the water. He's just a great songwriter/performer.

Bryan Adams (from my home town of Vancouver) has spent his entire career rocking at the highest levels of creativity and live performance. The guy's a legend at my house. A few of my local musician buddies have played in his bands for years. I also saw a concert at a church with just him alone last time.. didn't like it that much. I missed the band. But the songs were still as strong as ever.

I got your back too Kevin. Brian Adams is a very good song writer and performer.

bryan has had quite a few hits. summer of 69 is still on my ipod. and even though some might slam me for it i love everything i do, i do it for you. i am not crazy about "have you ever really loved a woman." the lyrics have kind of rubbed me the wrong way. but i do agree with you Kevin, in this day and age when someone plays and sings without any pre-recorded tracks, laser lights, and dancers, it's a special moment. i would have enjoyed being there.

Seen Bryan live back in South Africa and it was an awesome concert - I love it when musicians / bands match the calibre of their albums!
