West Coast Hip Hop - Dispatch forward
Got a juicy forward today for this listing:
D180617WC
CONTEMPORARY WEST COAST-STYLE RAP INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a Major-League Music Library for a variety of TV, Film, and Commercial placements. They’re on the hunt for Instrumentals that would fit well on a playlist with artists like (but not limited to) YG, Nipsey Hussle, TeeFLii, etc., etc., etc. Please listen to the following references to get an idea of what could work for this pitch:
WARNING: Some of the following references have graphic and explicit lyrics. Listener discretion is advised.
“Twist My Fingaz” by YG: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4RFI5f0HB-8
“Last Time That I Checc'd” by Nipsey Hussle ft. YG: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QM9xgHibvzM (I REALLY like this ref track!)
“24 Hours” by TeeFLii ft. 2 Chainz https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKqu2kH6cPw
Please submit well-crafted Instrumentals that have a convincingly authentic West Coast style, feel, and vibe. Make sure your music production is rhythmically and melodically engaging and is in the general stylistic ballpark of the references. Be sure to stick to one central melodic idea throughout, while adding and subtracting Instrumentation as your Cue progresses to create a dynamic arc and some forward momentum. NOTE: This company is one of the biggest, best, and longest-running Music Libraries in the industry. They don’t run listings with TAXI very often, and it’s very unlikely that you’ve got any material in their catalog, yet!
My favorite part is the line that says, "This company is one of the biggest, best, and longest-running Music Libraries in the industry." Woot!!
Oh yeah, my track is called "Ryde or Dye" and can be heard here: https://soundcloud.com/vanderboegh/ryde-or-dye

Re: West Coast Hip Hop - Dispatch forward
Matt
Congrats on the forward.
1. It is awesome to hear that you are still submitting through TAXI and that you are still excited for a forward. That is so cool.
2. This is a great example of taking three slightly similar tracks and coming up with a really nice amalgamation of three.
3. I like that you didn't lean in too far to the track that you called out really liking. That track is banging but it didn't have some of the funk undertones of the other two or your own track.
Great piece. I had fun listening.
Best,
Elliott

Love the development of the material in this piece. Enough variety to maintain the attention of the listener and the same time enough consistency for music library application. Thanks for showing us how it's done!
