There's nothing that says you can't have your music on several sites for different reasons. Some to sell, some as demos, etc. Different hosting sites have different features, as you know, and something that is good for the general listener to use might not be as attractive to the "B2B" clients who may have different preferences when it comes to auditioning music. They may want a "private" link area so they feel special, for instance!

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

Great point, food for thought. I am new to Taxi and new to trying to sell my music. So far with Taxi I'm 4 for 4 and very encouraged! I'm good with a guitar but I struggle with file transfers, up loads, down loads and generally anything that has to do with a computer. I appreciate all the help. Thank you.mazz wrote:There's nothing that says you can't have your music on several sites for different reasons. Congrats on the forwards!
It's good that you're getting this stuff down, because most production libraries seem to be moving to taking delivery of files by ftp (file transfer protocol), so bone up on that as well, because at the rate you're going, you might need that knowledge sooner than later! It's not that difficult to learn and one thing builds on another. Say goodbye to mailing CDs!
And many clients use Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel and some are now using Google Docs for such things as contracts, filling in data about your songs (highly critical) in Excel, and so forth.
As if writing and recording weren't enough!!!

I have reverbnation, however after Mojo said that with soundcloud you can upload wav files and others, and wav available for downloading, and because after reading some more, and I have 120 minutes for free account, and not just limited to 8mb per song, I've opened up an account there also. Now if people would download a wav instead of listening in 128kps streaming, hmm.

I have very little available for download at full (WAV) quality; I have fans, but I don't know if any are dedicated enough to spend thirty minutes downloading a track.
I'm moving the more commercial viable stuff to Bandcamp, soon, to take advantage of their flexible pricing; some of my more successful indie rocker friends are doing pretty well, there.

You're right, I just test downloaded, and I don't think anyone is going to take the time to download a wav.

Mazz,
Do you have a list of what the libraries ware looking for information wise for each song?
Such as:
BPS
Style
Sounds Like
Mood
Vocal or instrumental
etc
I am working on my own website in which each song will have its own page with as much info as I can provide, plus an automatic MP3 player, WAV or lossless type copy and a downloadable low bit mp3, plus a purchasable high bit mp3.
It would reduce my upload time wasted by trying to keep all the music sites I use updated.

HTH,

Thanks for the encouragement and info. One thing I have learned since getting into writing for money is, I have a lot to learn. One step at a time, write, record, submit, pray then repeat...
