What Middle Eastern VST's do you recommend?

Post by cassmcentee » Tue Feb 04, 2020 11:45 am

Just inked a deal with a Major Worldwide Library thanks to Taxi! (previous post re:Collab with Bill Hewett)
The library wants more... (Middle Eastern Rock)
I need to add some Middle Eastern depth to my sample library...
What would you recommend these days?
Much appreciated...

Hi Cass,
This is the one I used on a number of middle eastern tracks I signed with what I believe is the same library mentioned in your post: https://www.native-instruments.com/de/p ... ddle-east/ It is a smaller ensemble so not ideal for 'bigger' stuff but the instruments have quite a lot of expression and IMO sound really good. There is some free stuff from a company called https://taqs.im/downloads/kontakt-free/ but not all of the instruments are of great quality (that's why I never bought the paid one) but in a mix you can get away with some of them. Sonokinetic makes a few middle eastern instruments but I don't own any of them (they look good though) https://www.sonokinetic.net. There are also a couple of arabic string libraries out there (e.g. https://www.aviramdayan-dreamelodic.com ... ic-strings). They are on my list but I have not tried them yet.
Hope this helps. Please let me know in case you come across something interesting in that genre.
Cheers,
Matt

+1 on the Native Instruments Middle East
Thinking that this will be a great "multiple use" one as well: http://www.soundsonline.com/voices-of-passion

I make use of EastWest RA (http://www.soundsonline.com/ra) and Eduardo Tarilonte's Desert Winds (https://www.bestservice.com/desert_winds.html). Another library from Eduardo is Ancient ERA Persia (https://www.bestservice.com/ancient_era_persia.html).
Of the three, RA is the one that needs a bit more of "massaging"

Thank you Superkons!
Ancient Era Persia looks like my favorite of those three

Sounds great, Cass!
I will have to grab it myself, after inking a deal with a library that mainly does Middle East and Balkan (I already got asked for more, after giving them 3 tunes!)

Spitfire Labs has a dulcimer and some other instruments that could achieve that vibe.

This is a free Dudek, of somewhat limited range, but I've used it and I like it
