What's So Complicated About Dating a Songwriter?

I briefly dated a guy about a year ago who couldn't get over the fact that I wrote music..like that was some weird thing..he kept saying "I've never dated someone who writes stuff from a keyboard, that's just some weird s**t..." What a loser...Why do people think we're the complicated ones?

If a guy may say a word about this, my wife met me when I was a "rock star" (NOT!). She just liked me for who I was.SHE was the one who answered a family member questioning my career path by saying to him "Dreams evolve."My dreams still involve being a composer, period. And she and I both believe I'm successful by following the dream.BTW, we'll be married 30 years this fall. (Yes we were young when we got married! ).Ern

Being a songwriter singles you out from all the other people on the planet who have no dreams to pursue or talent to perfect...... we are a very small percentage of the global population.... you're too special a person for someone like that....ArkJack

Maybe they're scared because if we get in an argument we can write a song about them.A couple of days ago, I got a call from a songwriter friend who told me the dramatic story of fight he had with his ex. He said how she was yelling all kinds of things but he didn't say much. Then I asked him if he wrote a song about it. He laughed and played me a song over the phone which wouldn't even be allowed on late night!!! Whew!!! Music therapy.Moral of the story... be nice to songwriters.

My girlfriend is an opera singer studying at Peabody Conservatory; she has no problem with the fact that I write music. In fact she's probably my number 1 fan. Actually, she does some lyric and melody writing herself too.
