What Style/Genre Would This Be? (with link this time!)
I thought I uploaded the song but it did not show up.
The link to the song is http://www.taxi.com/jeremyarbogastmusic
The song in question this go around is ....30sec com 07.
I have not had any luck placing it. All returns with a "stylistically off target" attached.
I performed and recorded all the instruments.
Any feedback is welcome.
Thanks!
Jeremy

Jeremy,
I'm not seeing a link to the song. And you should probably use proper-case as opposed to all uppercase when posting. Makes it easier for everybody to read.

Sweet! And I listened to all of your tracks. Frankly the one you're asking about is probably my least favorite. Regarding genre, some of the tracks have a bit of a jazz feel I suppose. Some a little rock, and maybe even adult contemporary. Identifying genres is not a strength of mine. Usually they give examples to listen to for the opportunities. That's the best way to know that you're on or not.
Just in case you haven't been checking out Taxi TV yet, you can learn quite a bit about this industry, and all the shows are archived. Just finished watching the latest one with Robin Frederick. Good stuff.

It sounds like something I would hear when I'm playing Sim City! Even for Film/TV listings, I think you need music that's a bit longer, to show different aspects of what the song can be.

Jeremy,
This is a tough one. It's kind of got a contemporary jazz feel to it. Or an easy listening feel. Your ending needs to be fixed. It just cuts off poorly. You'll need to go in and create a resolve for it. Your drums sound nice. Nice production and nice playing. But I think this one would be hard to place. Your best bet is to get a custom critique from Taxi. They could better tell you where this might fit.
Best of luck,
Paul

Hi Jeremy. All your stuff is very well recorded.
30sec com 02 – Bossa flavor but it sounds like it’s just looping the same phrase over and over. That can be fine if you introduce a few variations along the way. It needs an ending.
30sec com 05 – This is pretty. A little bit country. This would work as a transition piece is a mellow TV show.
30sec com 07 – Smooth and jazzy. The end sounds clipped. I reckon you need your music to tail out before 29.5 secs on a 30 sec spot.
30sec com 11 – A bit more rocky this time. Nice guitars.
30sec com 12 – The drums upset the flow a little for me. I’d suggest doing a straight ahead beat without the little flicks.
40sec com 02 – Cool smooth jazz. I like the scratchy guitar and the finger snaps. Best of the bunch. Just watch that tail out. It sounds a little clipped again.
40sec com 03 – This sounds a little too ambient, especially the snare sound. Nice groove. Cool guitars.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Doug
