I can sympathize with the Malaysian authorities. It's very likely they don't have state of the art facilities, and other governments probably spend a hundred times their annual budget on such things. I think they have much to consider and sort through, and try to separate fact from fiction. There are many interests that have an ax to grind, so credible sources might prove difficult. For example, as many times as the NSA and CIA has lied to congress and the American people, how could you ever tell when they are truthful and objective??

I'm gonna go on public record and say... There was absolutely no foul play on anyone's part. This was just a very tragic accident which involved a perfect storm of events. I'm sure there will be accountability though. A person or persons may be found in violation of some kind of policy/procedure, but there will be no deliberate malice involved. Hopefully such person/persons will not be Chinese. China has been known to sentence people to death for this kind of thing.

Of course this is just one man's humble opinion. It's not like I have any more information than the general public.

I lean that way too. It probably was a tragic accident. Hopefully one day they'll find the wreckage and be able to figure out what went wrong. And that would give the families at least some closure.

I believe it's too early to come down on either side:

But where are the drones?
There ought to be drones.
Quick, send in the drones.

TOOOOOO many things don't line up. For me, the main thing is....under what
emergency would you turn off the transponder?
May be some......but not to turn if off and leave it off! Only one other time
that comes to mind.......911.

A fire could disable it or force the pilot to turn it off. NOT saying that's what happened, but answering your question.

True Case, we could 'what if' forever tho. I don't remember , but the transponder turned of either right before the turn, or after? So, a fire takes out the transponder, but no radio communcation, no maydays. I guess you could think a fire can take out the radio, transponder...or whatever else, but not the auto pilot too????..hmmmm. So if fire, it's enough to take out certain things, kill everyone on the plane so there's no cell phone calls from anyone, but not bad enough that it lets the plane fly on for hours?
As Dana's "Church Lady" used to say.......how convenient!
You know, you always hope that things like this are not nefarious, but in today's world, it usually is.

I won't do the "what if" thing... Didn't mean it that way. We really know nothing. Every day things that we took as fact 2 weeks ago are changed.

The only way I'll offer theories is if CNN pays me to sit there all day as an expert panelist. :P
