where's my truck?

Post by growler13 » Mon Dec 14, 2009 7:18 am

up-tempo country, semi-humorous

WHERE'S MY TRUCK?
well, i guess i must have had myself a drink or two last night
and lookin' at my face, i think i might have had a fight
i got me a gash up on the right side of my nose
and all these little rips and tears in my best party clothes
apparently, i didn't win, must have had no luck
that's bad, but the worst part is, i can't find my truck

my last recollection, trying to party until dawn
i must have accomplished that, cause, all my money's gone
i started with a wallet fat with twenty dollar bills
now that thing's as thin, as the hair on stephen stills
and it'll be next payday, before i have a buck
that's bad but the worstpart is, i can't find my truck

where's my truck? where's my truck?
it's whereabouts ain't clear to me, i've looked everywhere it ought to be
where's my truck? where's my truck?
looked all over for my rig, how do you lose a thing that big?

there must be someone out there who might, enlighten me
maybe give some details, bring back my memory
i just can't remember what it was that i forgot
and still i don't remember, just who it was i fought
prob'ly showed my rear end and acted like a schmuck
that's bad, but the worst part is, i can't find my truck

now, if you gave me twenty options, and then you made me choose
my truck would be the one thing that i wouldn't want to lose
i've got to, clean up my life, start acting like i'm grown
cause i think i've lost the sweetest ride i have ever owned
now there's a knock, i peek out, it's my neighbor chuck
that's my dodge, in his garage, thank God, chuck drove my truck

there's my truck, there's my truck,
chuck takes real good care of me, he's got my back as you can see
there's my truck,there's my truck,
he made sure i didn't drive, that's prob'ly why i'm still alive

spoken: thanks chuck, i owe you one, man,

buc, shorty, thanks. it's not the deepest thing i've ever written, but it's close to being a true story, and those are always funniest. i do have a melody for it that a friend of mine wrote, and he's recording it now. we'll see what it turns out like. what's the worst that could happen? oh yeah, it could be awful, as i am singing it, and that is never a good thing! fyi, there's another "true story" lyric that i wrote that's listed under the subject of "feedback" from 3 or 4 weeks ago. i love watching people who are hammered!

I like the lyric a lot. Lots of great images and a strong story.
You might try varying the lyric meter some. In old school country they did that sing songy repetitive meter a lot but in modern country they're starting to get more complex and allow phrases to run the one into the next phrase section.

Anyway, this is a really original lyric. I'd love to hear the music.
