Hello fellow Taxi members!
There is a lot of target placement for what would be considered contemporary or pop in the vein of “this” or “that”. That’s cool because it provides the right direction for what people are asking for. What I am not really clear on is who I sound like or who I could mostly compare myself too. I think I have a unique vocal style and sound as well as my guitar playing but I will be darned if I can say I sound like anyone. It would be helpful o have maybe some of my peers weigh in this area, if you care too I think it would at least help me answer that question for those that always ask you, well who do you sound like? I stupidly always say “me” because I can never think of anything.
Thanks for your input everyone!
Rosario

Re: Who Do I sound Like?
Hi Rosario. I had a listen to some of your first tracks with some rock guitars in them. You have excellent musicianship. I can never comment on engineering because I'm not hip in that area of expertise ( actually I'm not an expert at anything. )
Your tracks and guitar however sound a little ''dated''. I dont mean that in a bad way. I go for the vintage sound meself but I do try to keep it modern in sound and production. your excellent guitar playing and sound reminded me of this guitar sound in Top guns theme track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVNQGUkRX_U
There does be listings looking for this kind of dated sound but since being here on taxi now for a year they have been far and few between as far as I can tell. What section to go for? I would recommend you take a good look at the Rock section of the listings.
You have a nice rock voice too by the way.
Stephen

Hi Rosario,
You didn't point at specific songs to listen to, so I just picked randomly. In my opinion (and this is only my subjective personal opinion of course) you sound like 3 different singers to me depending on how much you're projecting. They are:
Axl Rose of Guns n' Roses during low projection like when he sung something like "Patience"
Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden when you're really belting something out
And Geoff Tate of Queensryche when you're somewhere in between
Obviously all in the rock genre though that's my main genre, others may hear something different. It will be interesting to see what others think. - Roger

Listening to "Without Your Love", and it reminds me of Queensryche, both compositionally, and in terms of the vocal quality, though maybe not quite as well recorded nor mixed. The performance is a mixed blessing; powerful, yet not contemporary, which may matter somewhat less if your intended genre is metal. That genre has a bit of built-in longevity, imo, and is less prone to whims of fashion.

Re: Who Do I sound Like?
Thank you everyone for taking the time to listen. I never thought I sounded like those guys but, I certainly consider it complementary. Thank you again for taking the time to listen to me. Jeff Tate is a favorite singer of mine but I haven’t listened to them since Empire. I never thought I sounded like him, really blows my mind to hear anyone say that. Very cool indeed!
