Wrote a melancholy song for an indie film...And was forwarded! .didnt know it because it was 4 submissions ago and didn't pay attn. Well, I'll celebrate that. The other songs that were forwarded for this are really good and I can hear them all on the same album haha. It's really interesting when you dive into these references.... The original song in the scene is just masterful and im sure they wanted it in the scene because of the amazing feedback from Ivor Cutlers microphone and the little amp from his keyboard adding that "electric feeling"... I was asking a close friend..."How do you capture that, without copying in any way, the guys a genius?!" I disected the lyrics...thought I was just going to make up anything and I just didn't know what it was dealing with when I started....He's a real poet, painting a total landscape with imagery and colors that cannot just be replaced and go perfectly with the scene... may have been a copyright issue wanting to use the song but getting no answers on the other end. I spent the 1st week listening and imagining the crazy scene of shock therapy....out of just wanting to connect to someone... would I do that if it were me?!? So what I thought was going to be easy turned out to be a stretching of my mind and getting out of my comfort zone. BG

DREAMY/WHIMSICAL FOLK SONGS with Male Vocals are needed for an (up to) $350, Direct-to-Producer placement in an Independent Feature Film.
ABOUT THE FILM: "This is a wild romantic comedy with some fun, weird science elements. It's about a man who is struggling with his love life, and he'll do almost anything to fix it."
They’re on the hunt for Songs that could work as a replacement for "I'm Going in a Field" by Ivor Cutler Trio, which is currently temped in.
"I'm Going in a Field" by Ivor Cutler Trio
They're NOT looking for clones or soundalikes! Similar tempo, style, and overall vibe? Yes. Clones? No!
Quoting the Film's Producer: “In this scene, our protagonist is undergoing his first round of electric 'therapy'. We love the somewhat ‘spaced out’ feel of the reference song, and the lyrics."
Please submit well-crafted Folk Songs with an offbeat, whimsical charm and lots of "spaced-out" vibes! This Film Producer is looking for tracks that capture the playful, off-kilter energy of the reference while combining it with lyrics that evoke solitude and a quiet appreciation for the simple things in life. Your submissions should have unhurried rhythms, meandering yet memorable melodies, eyebrow-raising quirkiness, minimal arrangements, and thoughtfully peculiar lyrics. Instrumentation and production in the general ballpark of the reference will work best, but don't feel too confined by the reference. If you use any virtual instruments or samples, please ensure they are high-quality and genre-appropriate. Well-performed Male vocals are needed, and having a warm, soft, and slightly deadpan tone could help get this Film Producer's attention!
TAXI Tip: It's often a good idea to match (or be very close to) the tempo of the song that's currently temped in. It can make it easier for the film's editor to place it and can create a sense of familiarity and "comfort" for the person making the final decision as to which track gets selected.
Avoiding references to specific names, dates, times, places, brands, and profanity in your lyrics could help your chances of nailing this request. Do NOT copy the referenced artist or Song in any way, shape, or form. Use only as a guide for tempo, texture, and tone. Broadcast Quality is needed.
AI ALERT: This company does not accept or sign music that has been lyrically or melodically composed using generative AI, nor does it accept backing tracks, full instrumental tracks, or vocal performances created with AI.
The estimated license fee for this placement is between $300 and $350, depending on the ultimate use.
This is a Direct-to-Producer placement, so you’ll keep 100% ownership of your Copyright and Master Recording, plus you’ll also get 100% of the Master License Fee and any applicable performance royalties. You must own or control your Copyright and Master Recording to pitch for this opportunity. Please submit as many Songs as you'd like, online or per CD. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PDT) on Sunday, March 16th, 2025. TAXI # S250316GN
