Why should I use Audicity

I've been reading up on Audicity. It seem quite versatile.
I'm not sure if what it offers will help me a lot.
Right now I'm using Cakewalk Music Creator.
Any thoughts...comments...experiences.

Nothing to lose. It's pretty good, and it's free. I use Sonar Producer, but I've played with Audacity and it'll get the job done.
For only $60, though, you might consider Reaper. Much more full-featured, which makes it easier to get the job done.

It's sort of a backwards question.. why would you consider using Audacity if what you're using works fine? If you are not happy, let us know what you'd like to do, and then suggest from there.

Audacity is just another entry level recording programme (but a fine freeware one, sure).

This is why I'm asking. I've heard about Audicity and wondered if I was missing something.
Cakewalk works fine for me. Inquiring minds want to know.

Stick with what you know. When you come to a point where you outgrow your system, you'll know it. But if your comfortable and satisfied with what you've got stick with it, because all DAW's are almost equal (although you're talking about entry level stuff here so you may outgrow it faster than you imagine). Point is, tech gets in the way of music most of the time, so the more you know your gear the easier it is to get to creating. Introducing new gear slows that down, so only do that when necessary.
