Window Seat ©2016 Robert George BMI
Me and my guitar
Were staying in a Santa Fe Hotel
It was late at night
And we looked outside
And the landscape seemed to cast a mystic spell
It was long ago
And we were ridin’ in an old stagecoach
We looked way up high
In the eastern sky
And saw the moon was like an Iv’ry brooch
O it’s not always where you’re goin’ to
No, it’s your vision and your view
Both life and songs are one long crazy trip
Sometimes it’s a bumpy ride
Sometimes we’re on board a fancy ship
But ev’ry given sunset will be sweet
If we quickly stake our claim
And make sure we get a window seat
Well, I placed my hand
Upon that cool and dusty windowpane
Then I played some chords
And for my reward
The skyline put me on an old steam train
So I sat and watched
A soft wind kiss the bluebells on the slope
Such a tender sight
I swear it was like
The evening breeze and foothills had eloped
And I saw rhythm as I rolled along
Cos dreams are windows to a song
Both life and life and music are a crazy trip
Sometimes it’s a bumpy ride
Sometimes we’re on board a fancy ship
But ev’ry given sunset will be sweet
If we quickly stake our claim
And make sure we get a window seat
I wrote some rhymes down on an old notepad
And my face could feel the warm sunrise
I thought about the magic night I’d had
How the moon and stars were heaven’s eyes
Each journey tells me that my life’s about
Where I’m goin’ and not where I’ve been
And windows aren’t just for lookin’ out
They’re for blessings that are lookin’ in
Cos both life and songs are one long crazy trip
Sometimes it’s a bumpy ride
Sometimes we’re on board a fancy ship
O but ev’ry given sunrise will be sweet
If we quickly stake our claim
And make sure we get a window seat
