Wishing I could be there

Post by kouly » Sun Nov 11, 2007 8:04 am

Well it's Saturday night and I ain't got nobody.... Oh Great, now I've done it. I have to send a check to Morris now! I am just hanging around the studio thinking, it is almost 11 and I bet there is something going on down by LAX that would keep me up if I was there. I think I can here the doors creaking in the forum here tonight. It is just very quiet, more so than normal. I wanted to give a shout out (actually it is so quiet I don't even have to shout) to Chits. She is the one person I know that is not going and will maybe read this Sunday when she gets up. We are going to have to go to next years rally. I do not know why you could not make this year but my excuse was money (always come down to that, huh?) Well I did not have much of a choice. I was working for Apple for a few months and I wanted to take advantage of some serious employee discounts before I left. So it was either a shiny new Mac Pro 3.0 GHz dual Quad Core running Logic Studio with Leopard or the rally. I wish they had a cure for gear lust. Well I am hoping that when everyone gets back we can get a little bit out of it by way of everyone who was there. Man, being a starving artist stinks sometimes. Goodnight LA, maybe next year!

I was in the same cartoon frame with you last night Koulz.... I was playing back mixes and reading through my pile of notebooks with song ideas and great lines trying to inspire the muse...... Then I thought, boy I shoulda gone to LA .... the opportunity to sit around with an axe and do spontaneous co-writes..... and form co-write relationships that would last beyond the year after the event.... maybe even relationships bonded by sharing royalty checks......I wonder if ML has any data or stories of success about how two or more people got together at Rally and got decent deals later in the year from forwards that came about post Rally...... like you say... it should become a focused goal for 2008..... but I guess until then I got time to work on some chops.... organize and cataloge my ideas a bit more....and be ready for it.....ArkJAck

Maybe next year, Kouly. I have some physical health issues that prohibit travel right now, but I continue to recover and get better every day.

I didn't go either, Kouly. I've been checking in but it's really quiet here these days, isn't it?They should all be draggin' their tails home by now, though......jet lagged, exhausted and full of stories. Congrats on the Mac! And nope, no cure for gear lust (but that'd make a great name for a band! )

Really... this "starving artist" is still on a Mac G4, with a 450 MHz operating chip, running a OS 9.2 system on dial-up...The only reason I made it to the rally was I live in L.A. and with the price of gas over $3.00 a gallon, I was lucky to fill my tank to drive over the hill...Now, if that's not "starving", I don't know what is...
