Woot!! First deal with TAXI

Post by teleblaster » Sun Jan 18, 2009 2:29 pm

I joined TAXI in Dec of 2007 with a goal of getting 10 forwards and 1 deal my first year. I hit some rocky road around March of 2008; some issues that put me out of the writing pocket for about 6months. that said, I managed to scrape out 5 forwards in 2008; which I feel pretty good about having a family, full time day job, etc. I figured a deal probably wouldn't come for some time yet.Much to my surprise and elation, I recieved an email today from a publisher that wants to pitch my song 'Trash Talkin' for me. Interesting thing is that I was going through old recordings last night, ran across this one and said to myself; " that bass is muddy and out of control, there's too much room on the drum sound, that'll never get a deal...." Shows what I know. http://soundclick.com/share?songid=6160130 Thanks to all the TAXI folks on this board for the inspiration, advice, and for being willing to share links to their forwarded tracks. I think being able to hear music that has passed muster is probably the best education you can get in this business.cheers,eRich

eRich,Big congrats! I'm sure you'd be more than happy to take a one out of five average signing.Nice job with the tune as well. It's a little hard to tell what sort of fish you've got there. The look a bit like rainbow? I can't tell by the picture if there is some color in the mid-section. If they are rainbow--wow! Nice catch.GB

Congrats eRich! I'm running into the same "real life" problems that are making it hard to put all the effort into this journey I'd like to. I'm not turning back, and neither should you! Do whatever you can, but keeping life afloat is a big mark of success these days that shouldn't be overlooked.Congrats and best of (continued) luck!J.J.

Thanks All,GB, those fish are Pink Salmon. Every other year they fill the Snohomish river estuary and the WDFW raises the limit to 4 fish. Big fun catching 5-8lb salmon on trout gear. If any of you guys are in the greater Seattle area late August through Early Oct. I'll take ya fishing!eR

eR,Thanks. I thought they might be Salmon with that hooked mouth, but wasn't sure. I have seen some big old trout that are that long, but not many and only on TV.Thank you for the offer. I'm sure it's lots of fun.GB
