When I do remember to check, I usually find tons of videos that have step-by-step instructions on how to do all kinds of things. When I was at Chuck's (crs7string) house for "composer camp" we watched several YouTube videos dealing with Sonar... very good stuff. I imagine you'd find a plethora (I learned that word from "The Three Amigos") of videos dealing with loop production and editing in Logic Pro.

I started working with loops using a "lite" version of Sony Acid .. it was VERY intuitive, easy to preview clips, easy to manipulate. I'm really, really glad I began with something that simple. My need was for authentic sounding drum loops for jazz music - and I did a lot of edits to add fills, etc, to make the loops sound human. Worked out well. The only downside is that the it's top end is 16 bit. But frankly, it's worth the price of the software (I recall $70 or so) just to have that easy of an environment to work it. Presently I still use it for "prototyping" and doing rough sketches, although I now use my daw (Sonar) for my 'for real' loop creation so I can stay 24 bit.

Hi Jody, I have cut and pasted parts with rhythm guitar and other audio but I find that its OK to do so as long as the part I have isn't too prominent over the song and is isn't too repetitive. Marc.

Jody, there are two Logic-specific resources that I've found really helpful:- the Apple certification book for Logic Pro and Logic Express, by David Nahmani. He takes you through all the fundamentals, including how to arrange with and modify both audio and MIDI loops -- which is good, since Logic Pro comes with something like 18,000 of them...www.amazon.com/Apple-Pro-Training-Logic ... 321502922- the Logic Pro forum (which David runs), for asking other users.logicprohelp.comI've found Logic very intuitive - I was maybe 2 chapters into the book when I had to put it down and work on a big paid project. Since then I've returned to reading the book and doing the exercises and learned tons more that I didn't pick up as a normal course of using the software. I highly recommend it. There's a "beyond the basics" book too that I plan to get; I've kinda decided to invest in learning Logic as my main DAW because I was so pleased with it on that first project.cheers - and have fun!CK

I will echo the above posts and add read the manual. It explains the diff. between the green and blue apples. Some are audio files which can be sliced and diced like any other audio file. When you open the browser it gives you an option to hear it in a variety of keys. It is non destructive so don't be afraid to experiment.

This should give you some ideas, though it's not specific to your software...http://audiotuts.com/production/how-to- ... nd-reason/
