World Instrumental forward!

Post by ckbarlow » Wed Nov 12, 2008 1:47 pm

Y081013WOHere was the listing - no critiques.WORLD INSTRUMENTALS IN ALL STYLES are needed by a Production Music Library. This company caters to clients in Advertising, Corporate Film and TV. Excellent performances with an authentic approach and tone are what's needed here. NO VOCALS for this one, please! Traditional World styles will be considered as well as a more Pop/Contemporary approach. These tracks are needed for Ad campaigns primarily, so the tone should be one that is upbeat and "feels good". A compelling and attractive overall vibe is necessary, so no sad/morose/melancholy compositions/arrangements. Fun, light and exciting would be a better approach for this request. The tune is "Ouzo"; it's on my TAXI page, for which a link should appear below near my signature.Did it for a local theater production in August; shortened it for this listing. Fun!

Nice job CK! I also liked the instrumentals on the CD you gave me at the Rally. The "Drunken Calliope" (I think it was called) was cool, and a bit eerie. Cam

Thanks, Cam. That calliope piece is an old fave - I did it for a children's play in which the main character (a little boy)'s dad is an alcoholic, and the boy copes with it by telling everyone his dad is a magician with a really great disappearing act and a bottle for a wand. Really sad and sweet.

CK,Very cool track and well named. It's too bad libraries re-title tracks. It was good to meet you at the Rally although we never seemed to be in the same place long enough to get acquainted.Chuck

Very tasty, CK! What are the string instruments you used? They've got a great feel and the entire track has a nice upbeat lovely mood. This one will surely get picked up and used-- it's yummy!! Great to meet you at the Rally! Raags

Bouzouki (two of those) and riqq. But this one falls into what Trotter called "music construction," and I'd admit that it felt like cheating - I'd never worked this way before. With one exception, they're all loops (of individual phrases by solo instruments) that came with Logic. The bass part is MIDI that I played in. Also a Logic instrument. So there was "construction" work, to be sure, and a teeeeeny bit of composition.

Great stuff CK! Very fun, and excellent performance/composition.The backing track reminds me a bit of the later Jessie Cooke work...and it's just as good.Nice!
