Wow... a film review with my name in it

Post by davewalton » Thu Jul 12, 2007 1:55 pm

Hello,Now I don't know if this particular review in "Hollywood Online" carries any weight or if this is just some guy sitting in a one-room dump in his underwear writing reviews because he believes he's actually the reincarnation of Gene Siskel, but I'm pretending like he's the most important guy in the world. Here's a review of "The House", a CSI-style "short film" that I finished recently (think "film festival film" rather than two-hour Hollywood blockbuster). The review focus is on the film itself (of course) and I just get kind of a passing mention, but at least it's complimentary!Since time is money, here's the sentence with my little blurb...Props go out to DP Jayson Crothers who delivers one beautiful shot after another. The editing was also tight although it could have been tighter near the end to slam home the climax, which composer Dave Walton sets up nicely right from the start. The full review if anyone is interested for any reason...http://hollywoodistalking.com/Blog/1736/The+House.htmlI know most of you are thinking "Oh yeah... right... " so, here's a one-minute clip of me, um, setting things up nicely right from the start... www.DaveWaltonMusic.com/PrivateArea/The ... o.movSince we're in the Shameless Promotion section, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that the original composer, Tim Williams, wasn't able to do this because he was picked up as the orchestrator and conductor for the recent Warner Brothers film "300" and apparently that's lead to some other major things where he's been kept pretty busy. So I'm their second choice but I don't mind because it's pretty nice to follow a guy like that. Enjoy!Dave

You're getting close, rubbing elbows with the muscle men. I hardly ever see composers mentioned in film reviews, so you must have done something right. With 10 films under your belt, I think you will be ready if the big opportunity strikes.

You're toooo humble about this validation stuff. We share your joy!-Allen

Dave, I've been inspired by your ability to make it happen and now it's happenin' on a new level!!! I hope I can say "yeah Dave, I met him at the TAXI road rally in 2004, I wonder if he still remembers me?"I'll take an extra large T shirt, thank you very much!
