Johan,

I can't find it to have a listen, but have you considered writing an email to taxi (maybe even Michael) explaining the situation? I realize it's after the fact, but you never know what can happen, especially if you're as nice as you can be. The way I see it, you have a greater than 30% chance of getting some kind of satisfaction rather than wondering.

Give it a shot!! What have you got to lose???

Hi guys,

just to give you a final update, I did send a PM to Phil and he replied saying "I listened to the song with the VP of Film/TV and we agreed that even taking the vocal as is, neither song was strong enough for a forward with either listing."

So basically I got 2 critiques for this listing, the first one telling me the track would have been forwarded if it had female vocals, meaning other than that he felt the track was strong enough. Then the second critique telling me it´s not strong enough...

Just another day in the music business I guess :-)

Yup, you gotta take it that way and keep the thick skin. Keep in mind that a listing like THIS one was ultra high bar. So chances of forward were less (song had to by an 11 out of 10 across the board) and, even if forwarded, the competition out there is so unbelievably huge.

Great songs find homes. A song can be great but not great enough for a particular situation. I'd also pitch your songs for film/TV listings, which tend to have more wiggle-room. One thing I find helpful is to read between the lines as to the level of "the bar" on listings. One of my absolute best co-writes which gets slam dunk forwards for film/TV just got a return for a listing for a label artist. The verse melody wasn't strong enough. Different criteria.

Best of luck,
:D Casey
