Y120316SS uplifting singer-songwriter / folk songs

I'm interested in this listing, and have a few questions...

HOPEFUL, INSPIRATIONAL, and UPLIFTING SINGER/SONGWRITER to FOLK SONGS needed by A-LIST Creative Music Director for a variety of films. HE SAID, AND WE QUOTE: "I need tracks that can lyrically provide the feel-good nature of 'What A Wonderful World' by Louie Armstrong or 'Beautiful Day' by U2. Keep in mind this is NOT a genre reference, strictly lyrical." The ESTIMATED PAYMENT for this placement is $5,000 -$10,000 all in. Tracks submitted can range in style and tempo, but should fit with the "FEEL GOOD" lyrical references mentioned by the company. Universal lyrics are necessary - no proper names or place names and no specific storylines that might conflict with the scene. MALE or FEMALE vocals are okay. Vocal and instrumental presentations must be excellent! Recordings need to be Broadcast Quality (great home recordings should be fine). You must own or control 100% of your composition and master recording. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS ONLY - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than Friday, March 16, 2012.

I'm relatively new to Taxi. Haven't yet got any placements, and am getting used to the returns!
This listing interests me as I can do music in that style. Until now I haven't considered writing a recording a song just for a listing, but I think I will for this one. And if it's not accepted (and of course I'm expecting it to be returned!), no loss, as I've made a song to use for other things.

Ok - "SINGER/SONGWRITER to FOLK". Obviously this can cover alot of ground, and both terms can mean very different things to different people. I'm thinking of something with a band arrangement, drums, bass, etc, but still with acoustic guitars, and a mellow vibe. But do you think this listing is wanting more solo acoustic singersongwriter stuff?
With this in mind.... what about if I submitted two versions of the same song. Either completely different recordings (one with band, one solo), or just different mixes (one more stripped down, one with drums and more instruments). Or is this frowned upon?

It wants something quite specific in terms of style and lyrical content, but it says "for a variety of films". Does this mean they want several songs, for several placements... or do they just want the one song, for multiple placements?

If anyone has any answers for me, or any other thoughts on this listing, speak up! :)

Charlie, I think you are focusing too much on style, when the listing says over and over that it's not about style.

I thought of a Sam Cooke song, "What a Wonderful World", covered also by Simon & Garfunkel with James Taylor, different song than Louie's
and a great one for an example.

I would guess and say he probably doesn't have a very large selection of "feel good" songs from which to choose and wants more.

If I were submitting to this listing,
I'd be thinking of the song equivalent
to a greeting card, a song you 'd give someone
along with some flowers.

You may think that's whack, but that
is what pops into my head.

Good luck with this!!
